Music has calmed me down, in this case, made a sad feeling better. Once it enters your mind, it gets some of the pain away. It haloed me after a death.
Music is medicine for the soul. Depending on the song, it can bring back good or bad memories. One can find songs that identify with their situation, so that they know they are not alone in this great big planet we live on, and it makes us feel connect to others. As for me, it has helped me in times of tragedy to soothe my heart, in times of celebration to extend the feeling of happiness and joy, and in special times to get me into the "mood" of the occasion.
Music helped me survive my adolescence! There were so many bands and songs that I would listen to on repeat while I was trying to sort out my life. I still use music to help me relax, to help inspire me when I write, and just to chill out.
