Release Date: May 7, 2019
Publisher: KCP Loft
About the Book:
An adaptation of Shaftesbury’s award-winning, groundbreaking queer vampire web series, Carmilla.
Newly escaped from the stifling boredom of a small town, college freshman Laura is ready for her first great adventure. But when her roommate, Betty, vanishes, and a sarcastic, nocturnal philosophy student named Carmilla moves into Betty’s side of the room, Laura decides to play detective. Turns out, Betty isn’t the first girl to go missing — she’s just the first girl not to come back.
As Laura closes in on answers, tensions rise with Carmilla. Is this just a roommate relationship that isn't working out, or does Carmilla know more than she's letting on about the disappearances? What will Laura do if it turns out her roommate isn't just selfish and insensitive, but completely inhuman? And what will she do with the feelings she’s starting to have for Carmilla?

I absolutely love the book cover and I think the synopsis does a really good job of describing the plot without giving any spoiler away! I like that the synopsis is written in such a way that someone who hasn't seen the webseries can follow along because it's concise and descriptive, and still brings nostalgia for fans of the original series with how Carmilla and Laura are described. I really like that the cover is visibly queer, and I think the photo captures the overall mood and energy of the story while not giving too much away, drawing potential readers in (especially LGBT+ potential readers) to want more. I know that if I hadn't watched Carmilla and I saw that cover in a bookstore and read the synopsis, I would definitely be intrigued and want to check it out. I am very excited to read this book!!
LOVE IT ALL!! I honestly have not heard about this book before. I am looking forward to reading this. Everything about this book is appealing. I am looking forward to reading this. I would rather read the book before watching the show. I can't wait!!!
I love the cover. Been a fan of the webseries for a long time!! What I love is that the synopsis has no spoiler yay! But still is good to let us want to read it. Makes us curious.
I cannot stress enough how excited I am about this! I first read the original 1871 book something like a decade ago and I'm a huge fan of the web series as well. The cover is fantastic and I love how obviously queer it is. There is no part of this I don't love. I can't believe I'm just hearing about this now... If I don't end up winning a copy, waiting until May is absolutely going to suck
