Calling all fans of THE ARCHVIED by Victoria Schwab! Today we’re bringing you the cover reveal for the sequel, THE UNBOUND! And let me just get this out of the way right now: It’s LOVERLY. And dark. And haunting. And pretty much everything I like in a cover.

Just sayin.

For those who haven’t read THE ARCHIVED yet, you’ll get a chance to get your hands on a signed copy at the end of this post. But first, a message from Victoria:

Hello, lovely YABC-ers!!! Victoria here! I’m the author of several books (a couple on shelves, a bunch more to come) and I’m THRILLED to be on this delightful site today, revealing the cover and jacket copy for my next book, THE UNBOUND! THE UNBOUND is the sequel to THE ARCHIVED, but don’t be afraid to read on, because my editor and I have worked to make this reveal a SPOILER-FREE experience (it turns out this is really hard to do)! THE ARCHIVED, for those who don’t know, is a series about a library where the dead are shelved like books, and a girl responsible for hunting down and returning the ones that wake…*cue creepy music*

I like the creepy music. Usually we do a drum roll right here, but the creepy music WORKS.

Are you ready to see the cover?

*turns up creepy music*

** Visitors, if you choose to share this cover, please include a courtesy link back to this post and giveaway **

I have to say, I love the creep factor here: the iron gate, the ring, the spooky nighttime mood, the smoky effect.

I DIG IT ALL, and I think it’s a great companion cover for THE ARCHIVED. What do you guys think?

Here’s a little bit about THE UNBOUND (spoiler-free!):

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books. Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Last summer, Mackenzie Bishop, a Keeper tasked with stopping violent Histories from escaping the Archive, almost lost her life to one. Now, as she starts her junior year at Hyde School, she’s struggling to get her life back. But moving on isn’t easy — not when her dreams are haunted by what happened. She knows the past is past, knows it cannot hurt her, but it feels so real, and when her nightmares begin to creep into her waking hours, she starts to wonder if she’s really safe. Meanwhile, people are vanishing without a trace, and the only thing they seem to have in common is Mackenzie. She’s sure the Archive knows more than they are letting on, but before she can prove it, she becomes the prime suspect. And unless Mac can track down the real culprit, she’ll lose everything, not only her role as Keeper, but her memories, and even her life. Can Mackenzie untangle the mystery before she herself unravels?

With stunning prose and a captivating mixture of action, romance, and horror, The Unbound delves into a richly imagined world where no choice is easy and love and loss feel like two sides of the same coin.

And here’s a bit about author Victoria Schwab:

Victoria SchwabI am the product of a British mother, a Beverly Hills father, and a southern upbringing. Because of this, I have been known to say “tom-ah-toes”, “like”, and “y’all”. I also suffer from a wicked case of wanderlust, made worse by the fact that wandering is a good way to stir up stories. When I’m not haunting Paris streets or trudging up English hillsides, I’m usually tucked in the corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up monsters.

True fact: I live on the internet. Or in it. It’s quite cozy actually. If you want to venture into my corner of the digital world, there are a number of rooms to find me in!

Twitter is like my kitchen. I’m always there: @veschwab

And there’s my living room/blog: http://veschwab.wordpress.com

And my website, which is like my office in that I should be there, but rarely am: www.victoriaschwab.com

And tumblr, which is totally like my bedroom bc it’s covered in pictures of Tom Hiddleston and tea: veschwab.tumblr.com

Thank you, Victoria and Disney*Hyperion for letting us host this cover reveal!
