Cover Reveal: The Other Way Around by Sashi Kaufman + Giveaway (International)

What up, YABCers?

Today we're happy to reveal Sashi Kaufman's THE OTHER WAY AROUND, available March 2014 from Carolrhoda Books. Before we get to the cover, here's a message from Sashi:

If you were running away from home, what would you take besides this gorgeous book? A huge hello to all the YABC readers! I’m Sashi Kaufman and THE OTHER WAY AROUND is the story of Andrew West, forced to attend an all-girls school where the headmaster is his mom. When he reaches his breaking point and runs away with some unusual kids he meets in the bus station all he has with him is a change of clothes, glasses, and one good book.

I could not be more happy and excited about this cover and the opportunity to reveal it here on YABC! The incredible designers at Carolrhoda Lab took my ideas and the story and created a masterpiece of strong fonts, natural elements and my dreamer/runaway Andrew. I hope you like it as much as I do!

THE OTHER WAY AROUND

by Sashi Kaufman
Release date: March 1, 2014
Publisher: Carolrhoda Books
ISBN-13: 978-1467702621

About the Book

Andrew has seen a flash of his future (Dad unfinished PhD, Mom: unfulfilling career. Their marriage: unsuccessful.) Based on what he’s seen, he’s uninspired to put a foot on the well worn path to the successful adulthood everyone expects of him.

After a particularly disastrous Thanksgiving (his cousin wets Andrew’s bed: his parents were too chicken to tell him his grandmother died), Andrew accidentally (on purpose) runs away and joins the circus. Kind of.

The Freegans are exactly the kind of friends (living out of an ancient VW camper van, dumpster diving, dressing like clowns and busking for change) who would have Andrew’s mother reaching for her third glass of Chardonnay. To Andrew, five teenagers who seem like they’ve found another way to grow up are a dream come true. But as the VW winds its way across the USA, the future is anything but certain.

Our Thoughts
I love road-trip novels. I love finding-yourself novels. I have a good feeling about this one! And the cover conveys wide open spaces, adventure, and the unknown. I dig!

It's very mysterious and doesn't give much a away, which I like. I love that you can tell its a road trip book though!

I think there is too much white/empty space on the cover.
