Cover Reveal: The Nightmare Dilemma by Mindee Arnett + Giveaway! (US/Canada)

Hey YABCers! Ready for a new cover reveal and giveaway?

Of course you are. Who am I kidding?

This week's cover reveal comes to you from Mindee Arnett, and we'll let her tell you all about it. Take it away, Mindee!

Hello YABC! So happy to be here for the cover reveal of The Nightmare Dilemma, the sequel to my debut The Nightmare Affair.

When we first started talking about the design for book 2 in the Arkwell Academy series, I was excited, but a little skeptical—there was no way they could top the gorgeousness of book 1!  But the moment I saw what artist Kate Forester had come up with, I had to swallow my skepticism like a huge bite of delicious chocolate. And then I had to put the pieces of my brain back into my head, because, yeah, mind blown. The color, the details, and the overall spooky/beautiful feel captures the book perfectly. I’m convinced that my editor and all the rest of the team at Tor are actually magickind in disguise. How else can you explain such magical renderings? I hope you enjoy it, and thanks so much for checking it out!

I just love the silhouette style these covers have going on. Reminds me of the mysteries I read as a child. And the glowing sword in the stone? ACK. My 13yo self would've grabbed this one off the shelf like THAT.

Oh, who am I kidding? My current self would too.

About the Book

Dusty Everhart might be able to predict the future through the dreams of her crush, Eli Booker, but that doesn’t make her life even remotely easy. When one of her mermaid friends is viciously assaulted and left for dead, and the school’s jokester, Lance Rathbone, is accused of the crime, Dusty’s as shocked as everybody else. Lance needs Dusty to prove his innocence by finding the real attacker, but that’s easier asked than done. Eli’s dreams are no help, more nightmares than prophecies.

To make matters worse, Dusty’s ex-boyfriend has just been acquitted of conspiracy and is now back at school, reminding Dusty of why she fell for him in the first place. The Magi Senate needs Dusty to get close to him, to discover his real motives. But this order infuriates Eli, who has started his own campaign for Dusty’s heart.

As Dusty takes on both cases, she begins to suspect they’re connected to something bigger. And there’s something very wrong with Eli’s dreams, signs that point to a darker plot than they could have ever imagined.

I'm wondering if that sword in the rock means that this will have a King Authur theme.

I think it's very reminiscent of the first book's cover which is great! I love the silhouetted framing and the sword in the stone definitely evokes an Arthurian fiction feeling to it which makes me want to read it all on it's own (I'm a huge fan of the Arthurian legends). I also think the cover art is eye pleasing enough to draw anyone's eye.
