Time for another cover reveal from Strange Chemistry, YABCers!
Today we're celebrating the cover for SOME FINE DAY by Kat Ross, releasing July 1, 2014 from Strange Chemistry. But before we get to the cover, here's a message from Kat:
Hey all you YABCers!
Welcome to the exclusive cover reveal for SOME FINE DAY!
My name is Kat Ross, and I may have written the story, but the stark, deliciously ominous cover belongs entirely to the geniuses at Strange Chemistry and Argh! Nottingham. In fact, until the exact moment that I opened an email attachment a week or so ago and went into minor palpitations, I hadn't the remotest clue about what sort of image belonged there. A pretty lady sniffing a glove? Wait, Spinal Tap did that already. Perhaps a hand clutching a withered red rose? No, they'd accuse me of plagiarizing Sylvia Plath. I know! A black-and-white photo of a flaming zeppelin! Okay, maybe not… Che Guevara?
Fortunately, my editors gave me a nice cup of tea and gently told me to hush and went off and designed the PERFECT cover, with lightning and cool techno-ish lettering and a tagline that I hope you find so intriguing you will make a note on your calendar right now that come next July you must immediately get your hands on a copy and that you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it… Sorry, I'm exhausted just having typed that sentence. If it made no sense, it's because my brain is addled from adrenalin that this book HAS A COVER and is actually coming out in a few months! More on the story below and thanks for your patience.

About the book
Sixteen-year-old Jansin Nordqvist is on the verge of graduating from the black ops factory known as the Academy. She’s smart and deadly and knows three things with absolute certainty.
She knows that when the world flooded and civilization retreated deep underground, there was no one left on the surface.
She knows that the only species to thrive there are the toads, a primate/amphibian hybrid with a serious mean streak.
Most of all, she knows there’s no place on Earth where you can hide from the hypercanes, continent-sized storms that have raged for decades.
Jansin has been lied to. On all counts. Faced with the truth in the form of a charismatic young survivor named Will, Jansin vows that her former masters will regret making her what she is…
Is that a lightning bolt reflected in her eye? THAT. IS. AWESOME. Love the starkness of the white and the blue. Makes me think Jansin's world is bleak, cold, and she feels very much alone. What will she find on the surface of the earth? I must know!
About the Author
I grew up in New York City and worked as a bike messenger, legal secretary, coat check girl and iguana-brander before settling on a career as a reporter and editor. Confession: I didn't write a word of fiction between the Reagan and Obama administrations, although I secretly wanted to and finally got around to it when my daughter turned four, which just goes to show that it's never too late to follow your fifth-grade dream. I do believe that journalism taught me to wage war on adverbs and fluff, so my master's degree and associated student loan debt is not entirely pointless. The main thing is that I love to read, and good books are the best writing teachers. I'm represented by the kind and brilliant Jeff Ourvan of Jennifer Lyons agency.
