Cover Reveal: Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine + Giveaway (International)

And now it's time for our regularly scheduled broadcast...er...cover reveal!

Today we're revealing Sarah Fine's OF METAL AND WISHES, available August 2014 from McElderry/Simon & Schuster. Before we get to the goods, here's a message from Sarah:

Hi YABC readers!

My name is Sarah Fine, and I’m the author of OF METAL AND WISHES. I’m incredibly excited to share the cover with you today! The original title for this book was Factory Ghost, a pretty literal statement—the setting of the story is a turn-of-the-20th-century meat factory in a fictional society. My editor Ruta Rimas wisely guided me toward a title that captured the essence of the story instead, and that was only the first in a long chain of amazing decisions by the team at McElderry/S&S. Michael Frost did the photography, and the cover was designed by Debra Sfetsios-Conover. I’m so grateful for the thought and work they put into it, and I’m certainly glad they were in charge. They made it exquisite in a way I could never have pictured (possibly because I am a most un-visual person). I could use a lot of words to describe this cover, but I think it would be best if I shut up and let you look at it for yourselves.

~ Sarah

About the Book

There are whispers of a ghost in the slaughterhouse where sixteen-year-old Wen assists her father in his medical clinic—a ghost who grants wishes to those who need them most. When one of the Noor, men hired as cheap factory labor, humiliates Wen, she makes an impulsive wish of her own, and the Ghost grants it.

Brutally.

Guilt-ridden, Wen befriends the Noor, including their outspoken leader, a young man named Melik. At the same time, she is lured by the mystery of the Ghost and learns he has been watching her … for a very long time.

As deadly accidents fuel tensions within the factory, Wen must confront her growing feelings for Melik, who is enraged at the sadistic factory bosses and the prejudice faced by his people at the hand of Wen’s, and her need to appease the Ghost, who is determined to protect her against any threat—real or imagined. She must decide whom she can trust, because as her heart is torn between tradition and love, the factory is exploding around her … and she might go down with it.

Our Thoughts

Wow. This cover! So understated and elegant, yet also mysterious and haunting.

And the synopsis? Double wow. This one just moved to the top of my to-read list for 2014. A whole year of waiting will be agony, I tell you.

I really like the cover. If very simple but at the same time it makes us curious. It's like the veil is between us and the story (wow, that sounds lame eheh xD)

Thanks for the giveaway ;-)
