Bookstagrammer of the Month ~ Lori of @loriimagination
Welcome to our monthly special feature post,
Bookstagrammer Of The Month!
Each month we will be interviewing a different Bookstagrammer (Instagram for book lovers) who will share with us a bit of their experience about the Bookstagram community!
Introducing Lori of @loriimagination, YABC's Bookstagrammer of the Month!!
Hi everyone! I'm Lori! I've been gushing about books on my blog since 2008. I dove head first into Bookstagram in 2016 and haven't looked back! I've been married for 10 years to a wonderful guy who puts up with my book hoarding. We have two incredible little boys, Finn and Rowan. If I'm not chasing 2 rambunctious boys, changing a diaper, or cleaning up endless piles of Hot Wheels, then I might be reading or taking pictures of books.
YABC: How long have you been part of the Bookstagram community?
I started at the end of July last year after following some amazing book bloggers on Instagram. I was completely in love right away. I just had to try it out!
YABC: Can you tell us a bit about your feed/style and how has it changed over time?
When I first started I was inspired by bright and simplistic accounts. After trying that out for a couple of months I just wasn't very happy with it. I started to incorporate a more rustic feel and I've been much happier with that. I recently changed things up again, but I'm sticking with the cozy and slightly rustic theme.
YABC: What is the silliest thing you've ever done for the sake of a photo?
Oh, lots of things! I've bought sweets and fruit just for pictures, bribed my 4 year old with M&Ms just to get him to stay still for a picture, accidentally burned some cedar branches, and burned the edges of old book pages on purpose and made my smoke alarm go off. Bookstagram is dangerous!
YABC: When do you make time for taking photos? Do you usually plan ahead or take photos as you go (daily)?
I usually find something to entertain my little ones for awhile in the afternoon and take 3 or 4 days worth at once. I keep a list of which challenge prompts or rep posts I need to get done and work down the list.
YABC: What type of camera do you use?
I use my iPhone 6.
YABC: What are some of your favorite props (besides books, of course ;) )?
Right now I'm loving my greenery and succulents. A cup of coffee or tea is always a go to prop for me. I also love bookish candles, pine cones, and wooden slabs.
YABC: Which of your photos is your absolute favorite and why?
Ahh! That's a hard question! I recently changed my style a bit and I'm really liking how those pictures turn out. This one is probably my current favorite.
YABC: What is the thing you love most about Bookstagramming?
I adore the community! I love chatting with other book lovers about books and everything else. I've made some lovely new friends in the last year. I love having a creative outlet and seeing everyone's inspiring photos. Discovering new books is always wonderful too!
YABC: What are a few of your favorite Bookstagram accounts?

YABC: Do you have any tips for new Bookstagram accounts that you wish you knew when you started?
Don't be afraid to interact and chat with people! Everyone is so nice and welcoming! Also, participate in challenges! It's a great way to get inspiration and chat with others.
Thanks for all of your awesome answers & everything you do for the book community!
We love your Bookstagram account and we cannot wait to see more of your beautiful photos!!!
