Bookstagrammer of the Month: Fleur & Star of @webookingloveit
Welcome to our monthly special feature post, Bookstagrammer Of The Month!
Each month we will be interviewing a different Bookstagrammer (Instagram for book lovers) who will share with us a bit of their experience about the Bookstagram community!
Introducing Star and Fleur of @webookingloveit, YABC's Bookstagrammers of the Month!!
Sisters who love to read
1. How long have you been part of the Bookstagram community?
We started our Instagram mid-September 2016, and have been an active member of the Bookstagram community ever since.
2. Can you tell us a bit about your feed/style and how has it changed over time?
Our Instagram feed started out rather random and without a particular theme or style as we wanted our feed to be unique and different – thus every post had to be different from the previous ones. Yet, a couple months into entering the Bookstagram community, we knew we had to refine our feed and style. Therefore, we experimented a lot and finally adopted our current style, influenced largely by being cosy and by our love of fairy tales. We still try to make our account unique and different, just with a more refined (and hopefully magical) style.
3. What is the silliest thing you've ever done for the sake of a photo?
We like to use a lot of candles and smoke in our photos, and so we have had a few close calls regarding burning ourselves, our props and even the furniture. One time we managed to set a letter on fire in the middle of a photo shoot – thankfully nothing was destroyed!
4. When do you make time for taking photos? Do you usually plan ahead or take photos as you go (daily)?
We have a routine of always taking our photos on a Saturday afternoon together, for the week ahead.
5. What type of camera do you use?
We use a Canon EOS 100d.
6. What are some of your favourite props (besides books, of course ;)?
We love to use Pop Funkos! We have so many now (mainly fairy-tale based ones to
match our favourite books). But we also adore bookish candles as they too match our books, as well as making the photo look so cosy! Finally, when we find a photo looks a bit too simple or boring we rely heavily on season-based props, such as; flowers, pumpkins, snowflakes etc. as they are a great way to make photos look busier and more detailed.
7. Which of your photos is your absolute favourite and why?
Fleur’s choice – This is my favourite photo mainly because I am in love the Jareth pop funko! It is my all-time fave funko and photographs so well! But what I also love about this photo is the attention to detail and the cosy winter vibe. I just adore winter themed photos and I like how this turned out.
We both love this photo because it shows a glimpse of behind the scenes action. As mentioned earlier we love to use candles and smoke in our photos, and this photo shows part of the process.
Star’s choice – This is my favourite photo as I like how we used the Funkos to represent us and promotes a sisterly feel to the post. (Also we discovered how gorgeous the backs of Funkos can be!) I am also a huge fan of the colour scheme and the general fairy-tale vibe it has going on, as well as the fact it is hugely influenced by Disney!
8. What is the thing you love most about Bookstagramming?
What we love most about Bookstagramming is the Bookstagram Community, everyone is so kind and encouraging and we love seeing how creative they can be with their photos. You also meet new people every day with the same interests and fandoms, in which you can have in-depth conversations and fangirling - which is amazing!
9. What are a few of your favorite Bookstagram accounts?
We have so many favourite accounts and gain so much inspiration from them but to name a few we love:
@cosyreads because she is so lovely and has a beautiful feed!
@thebookranter as she has a great ability to take stunning photos! Her current theme is breath taking and gives us so much inspiration.
@boookmarky – hands down the best account at #socksunday!
@forthelove_ofbooks because her photos are simply gorgeous and have a stunning wanderlust quality and a cute cosy vibe.
10. Do you have any tips for new Bookstagram accounts that you wish you knew when you started?
Always take pictures in good lighting and try to upload daily, but most importantly don’t try to force a theme or style straight away (or upload for the sake of it) upload what YOU like and what makes you happy. Style and a theme will come in time, there is no rush, just experiment and have fun!
Thank you so much Star and Fleur for all your hard work in the Bookstagram community and for granting us the chance to interview you! Looking forward to more of your amazing photos on Instagram!
