New York, NY (May 8, 2017)—HarperCollins Publishers announced today the acquisition of award-winning digital media star Zach King’s first middle grade book, ZACH KING: MY MAGICAL LIFE, the first in a three-book series. North American rights were sold to David Linker, Executive Editor, HarperCollins Children’s Books, from CAA.
ZACH KING: MY MAGICAL LIFE is a fun-filled middle-grade adventure that chronicles a seventh grader’s search of his true magical powers. Everyone in Zach’s family has a magical power. His father can turn back time, his sister can turn invisible, and his mother can transform any object into something else. And Zach . . . well, he hasn’t found his magic and his family is growing worried that he may have been “skipped.” His parents decide to stop homeschooling him in the magical arts and send him instead to a regular middle school with regular kids. To Zach, it’s the worst news ever. Who wants to be ordinary when everyone around them is extraordinary?
King’s highly anticipated debut novel will mix traditional storytelling with graphic novel-style sections all of which comes with a free downloadable augmented reality (AR) app that animates the illustrations, bringing them to three-dimensional life.
