Meet Reunited!!

After surviving her otherworldly adventure, Lily wakes up on her nana’s farm having forgotten everything. Her sun prince, her travels to Egypt, and her journey to the Afterlife are all distant memories.
But Lily is not the girl she once was. Her body is now part human, part lion, and part fairy. And if that isn’t bad enough, she must harness this power of three and become Wasret: a goddess destined to defeat the evil god Seth once and for all.
With the help of her old friend Dr. Hassan, Lily departs on her final voyage through the cosmos and across the plains of Egypt. On the journey, she will transform into the being she is destined to become.
Reunited is the heart-pounding conclusion to the Reawakened series. It is time for Lily to find her sunset.

~ Author Interview ~

YABC:  Which came first, the title or the novel?

Definitely the novel. We argued about the title for a while. The first working title for this book was The Eye of Vengeance. That was back when I originally called it the Eye Trilogy. Then the working title was Realigned since I started out with literally realigning the sun the moon and the stars. My editor pushed for Reunited and even though when I hear the word all I can think of is, "Reunited and it feels so good," I finally gave in.

YABC:  What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?

I really love the spider scene. Anansi, the spider who weaves life stories in her web is based on an African myth. It's a little mythology, a little foreshadow, a little bit alien, and a little bit Lord of the Rings. =)

YABC:  Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?

I have learned quite a bit about the publishing business since I started writing Tiger's Curse back in 2008. I'm a much more streamlined writer and marketer now. Every editor, every marketing specialist I work with teaches me. Since then I've learned not to start each sentence with "I", how much I need to write per day to stay on track, and I have a social media/marketing calendar to make sure I'm doing all I can to get the word out. I get a little better each year, which is how it should be.

YABC:  What do you like most about the cover of the book?

The color. I never expected the book to end up pink and I love it. It's bright and vivid and it really stands out on the shelf. I think it's gorgeous!

YABC:   What’s up next for you?

My next published book will be book five in the tiger series called Tiger's Dream. It's a giant book. The longest I've ever written. Apparently, I had a lot of loose ends to tie up. You can look for that one in the spring of 2018.

YABC:   Which was the most difficult or emotional scene to narrate?

The end was hardest. It's awesome to see everything come together but it's also sad to let go, not only because some characters don't survive, but because you, as the author, are letting go of the world and the story. It's a bit like letting go of a balloon and watching it get farther and farther away from you. The memory is there but it exists outside of your immediate space and it will never be near you again. Boy that sounds dramatic, doesn't it?

YABC:  Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?

Drafting. I HATE revising. Editing is something I wish I never, ever had to do. At the same time, I know its necessary and crucial but those cuts are hard to make. Having said that, I fight much more now instead of cry. Now I can center in on what it is I love about a section and either relocate it or cut everything else around it.

YABC:  Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?

Animals. I'm a dog lover and I also like to advocate for animals going extinct, like the tiger. Every time I see abused dogs on television my heart hurts.
