Meet Tracey Laviolette!
Tracey Laviolette enjoys the quiet country life in Wisconsin with her husband. As a home chef, she and her husband create innovative and easy to cook recipes. When she's not cooking or working on her newest YA Urban Fantasy series, you might find Tracey killing a zombie or two with her husband on the Xbox.
Meet Bloodborne Awakened!
Welcome to my world.
Meet sixteen-year-old Jessie Connelly. She lived a normal life until she witnesses a horrifying attack on a student at her high school. No one but Jessie could explain what happened, but who would believe her when she tells them she didn’t see what attacked another student? Jessie’s parents believe it would be good for her to spend the summer with her Grams in Weston, Florida until the suspicions cool down.
Life seemed chill, at least for the first day or two, but it’s not until she meets Jacob, Gram’s best friend’s grandson, that Jessie’s world turns upside down.
After a planned camping trip goes wrong, Jessie’s faced with something she hadn’t anticipated- Life and Death. Jacob’s decision to save Jessie sealed their fate together forever.
Enter the world of Bloodbornes—for thousands of years they have protected Claybornes from demons, and other creatures of the night who would devour the flesh and souls of humans. Demons have been drawn heavier than before to the human world, and they are searching for something.
Jessie is thrown into an age-old battle of good vs. evil and soon discovers she’s not entirely what she believed to be—but something more terrifying than just a Bloodborne. The only one who can help her is Kyle—a stranger with a red dragon tattoo on his neck.
Soon a motley crew develops with Jacob, Kyle, Jessie, and the very ancient Tristan. They must stop the horde of demons from attacking by first discovering what it is they want in the first place. The trail leads them directly into the path of not only demon hybrids, but dragons.
Jessie soon learns that to save her Bloodkin, she must join forces with the side that hates her kind the most – Bloodbornes.
~ Author Chat ~
YABC: What gave you the inspiration to write this book?
I love to write, but I wanted a different story type than the usual urban fantasy novels. My husband helped me brain storm for months before I finally came up with using dragon shifters as my theme.
YABC: Who is your favorite character in the book?
I would have to say that Tristan is my favorite character because of his funny and sometimes over the top personality. He's someone who you know you can trust and always depend on.
YABC: Which came first, the title or the novel?
The novel. I wrote the novel, then about three chapters from the end, I changed the title to what it is today.
YABC: What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?
I would have to say the scene that I'm most proud of is the scene where Jessie and her crew fight the demons. It is an intense moment of fighting not just good vs evil, but for their very lives. Then the dragons show up, and the rest is history. I loved writing the emotions Jessie shared as she approached one of the dragons.
YABC: Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?
The most important thing I've learned as a writer is learning how to be a good story teller. I came from a long line of people (Irish people) who were excellent verbal story tellers. I would listen for hours to my Great Grand Father tell me tales of his travels, and adventures. Anyone who sat and listened to him fell captive in his stories, and as I grew older, I wanted to be just like him. I wanted to capture the world with my stories.
YABC: What do you like most about the cover of the book?
The dragon symbol! I've always loved dragons, and this one seems to just jump right off the cover.
YABC: What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2020?
The second book in the series, Blood Kin. It's the continuing story of Jessie as she dives deeper into the journey of who and what she has become.
YABC: What was your favorite book in 2019? Thrall by Jennifer Quintenze.
What’s up next for you? A lot of writing. I have the rest of the Borne of Blood series to complete, as well as working on a NEW YA Paranormal Romance which I'm hoping to have released in 2021.
YABC: Is there anything that you would like to add?
Just a thank you to everyone for having me here, and hope that if you do read my book and series that you enjoy my little world.
YABC: Which was the most difficult or emotional scene to narrate?
The most emotional scene that was difficult to write was Jessie facing Evan. Jessie learned very quickly that she wasn't wanted by the Bloodbornes, which cut her like a knife. No one wants to feel rejected, especially from those we've come to trust, and this is what happened to Jessie.
YABC: Which character gave you the most trouble when writing your latest book?
Kyle. I knew the direction I wanted to go with this character, but I didn't seem to have enough time with him to pull out those genuinely emotional bonds.
YABC: Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?
YABC: What would you say is your superpower?
YABC: Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?
Any organization that helps find children in orphanages good homes.
