Meet Found!

Fog rolls into Tulsa, and with it comes Darkness. Zoey knows something is up, and that the something involves Neferet, but Neferet can't possibly be freed, right?

Other Neferet and her companion, Lynette, arrive in Woodward Park to set this world's Neferet free from her grotto prison, and discover there may be those who sympathize with their cause. Meanwhile, Other Kevin and Other Stark are hot on their trail, but how can the new friends travel to this world without invoking Old Magick and paying a costly, perhaps deadly, price?

In 'FOUND', the culmination of the House of Night Other World series, a surprisingly talented fledgling, an immortal, and the unlikeliest of allies will band together with Zoey and the Nerd Herd. Will they be powerful enough to defeat her old nemesis, or will two worlds be destroyed and claimed by Darkness? Find out in the thrilling conclusion to the House of Night Other World series!

~ Author Chat ~

YABC:  What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

PC: The inspiration to write the HoN Other World series, of which FOUND is the final installment, was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of the first HoN book, MARKED. I took this opportunity to write what really is a thank you to HoN readers in the form of four new books.

YABC:  Who is your favorite character in the book?

PC: I really enjoyed the development of Other Neferet’s character in this series. She’s my fav in this book.

KC: Watching Aphrodite continue to grow has been such a treat. She was always great, but I love seeing her gifts evolve.

YABC:  Which came first, the title or the novel?

PC: In this particular case I titled all four novels at the same time: LOVED, LOST, FORGOTTEN and FOUND. That rarely happens.

KC: Umm, I think I titled all four novels first. 😂

YABC:  What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?

PC: I’m most proud of the climactic scene where Other Neferet makes her world-changing/life-altering choice. This spin-off is all about how making small changes in your life can lead to much bigger things, and this scene exemplifies that theme well.

KC: Yes! Yes! Same here. The conclusion to this part of Other Neferet’s story is so beautiful. I cannot wait for everyone to read it!

YABC:  Thinking way back to the beginning, what’s the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?

PC: To trust my gut. That frees my characters to expand their choices and often opens very interesting plot possibilities.

KC: No matter how successful I am, there is always more to learn.

YABC:  What do you like most about the cover of the book?

PC: I’ve loved working with Blackstone’s talented cover artist, Kathryn English, on all four covers. I had an idea at the beginning of the spin-off about the cover design for the series, and Katy brought to life all four of the scenes beautifully. It’s such a treat to be able to work so closely with a cover artist and one of the benefits of writing for Blackstone Publishing.

KC: This cover is full of spoilers! I wish I could tell you what I love most about it, but I’d be giving too much away.

YABC:  What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2020?

PC: I cannot wait for October 13th and the release of THE KEY TO FEAR, the first book in Kristin’s new series!

KC: I couldn’t have said it better myself. I’m extremely excited for the release of The Key to Fear, the first book my post-pandemic dystopian YA series!

YABC:  What was your favorite book in 2019?

PC: Oooooh! THE QUEEN OF NOTHING, the conclusion of Holly Black’s THE FOLK OF THE AIR trilogy!

KC: Reverie by Ryan La Sala didn’t release until the very end of 2019, but it was definitely worth the wait. It’s a rich world with a gripping premise and dazzling characters. Check it out!

YABC:  What’s up next for you?

PC: Kristin and I are looking forward to the release of SPELLS TROUBLE, the first book in our new witchy series, SISTERS OF SALEM (2021) and I’m working hard on the first book in an adult series that I’ll be excited to announce soon!

KC: I’m hard at work on The Key to Fury, the second book in my new series, and am always jotting down ideas for my next story. Stay tuned!

YABC:  Which was the most difficult or emotional scene to narrate?

PC: The concluding scenes of FOUND were very emotional to write. I’ve loved this spinoff, and bringing it to an end has been bittersweet.

YABC:  Which character gave you the most trouble when writing your latest book?

PC: It was a challenge to get inside Other Stark’s head. He and his counterpart in “our” HoN world are complex characters – different because of their life experiences, yet at their cores the same.

YABC:  Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?

PC: Drafting definitely. I revise the entire time I write, so editorial revisions always feel like work piled on top of work (though I absolutely appreciate editorial direction – especially when my daughter is my editor!).

KC: Revising! It’s always so much easier to make something better than it is to stare at a blank page.

YABC:  What would you say is your superpower?

PC: My ability to focus and easily fall into the worlds I create.

KC: Being able to find my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night when it’s dark and I’m not wearing my glasses.

YABC:  Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?

PC: Planned Parenthood, The Pixel Project, the Humane Society, and many smaller animal shelters/rescues.

KC: Sea Legacy. Their mission is to create healthy and abundant oceans for us and for the planet. They connect two of my passions, storytelling and marine conservation, to educate and inspire change. #TurningTheTide
