Meet Lynn Wallace!

Lynn Wallace is a born-and-raised Texan. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing, but along the way realized that writing was her true passion. Currently she lives with her husband, who cooks fantastic meals, and her young son, who creates fantastic messes but makes up for it by being adorable. When not lost in the wilds of her own imagination, she works part time as a registered nurse in surgery. Her other hobbies include reading, listening to music, cleaning the house, and chasing the toddler.

Meet The Supernatural Reasons Why I Love You!

How do I love thee? Let me count the paranormal ways…

Ever wonder what life was like for Jesse and Alex before Emer appeared? Or who the priestess really was? Curious about how Lisa turned her boyfriend into a revenant? All those answers and more can be found here!

"The Heart of Everything" was only the start…now join Jesse, Alex, the priestess, and many others in a short story collection like no other! Featuring "Love, Blood, and Magic: The Star-Crossed Origins," which traces the history of the original trio all the way back to the very beginning, this anthology also contains other paranormal romance shorts with never-before-seen characters. With werewolves, pixies, and zombies too, discovering the supernatural reasons behind love has never been more fun!

~ Author Chat ~

YABC:  What gave you the inspiration to write this book?

I had already written several of the short stories in this collection before I started working on my first novel, The Heart of Everything. Then an early morning drive to work several years ago produced a daydream that became the first story of “Love, Blood & Magic,” which ended up connecting my first novel to another set of books I’m planning to write, and led to the other 6 stories in “Love, Blood & Magic.” When I realized how many short stories I had ended up creating, that was when I knew I would be publishing this anthology!

YABC:  Who is your favorite character in the book?

I think I might have to say the priestess… she represents that version of myself I’m trying to become. She’s patient and kind at all those times when I’m not ><. But Jesse has also long been a favorite of mine (you meet both him and Alex in my first novel, but this collection provides wonderful backstory for them)… and Lisa’s just so adorable and energetic… It’s so hard to really choose! I love them all 😊.

YABC:  Which came first, the title or the novel?

The book. Always the book. Coming up with a title is usually the hardest part for me!

YABC:  Do you have a favorite writing snack?

Coffee! The caffeine helps me stay focused :-D.

YABC:  What do you like most about the cover of the book?

My husband and I actually created the central image ourselves! The BookBaby design team wasn’t able to do what I was hoping for from stock images – my options were to either pay more for an “advanced” cover design, or do it myself. So I found the image (thank you Shutterstock for royalty-free image licensing!) and my husband did the “bites” on the leaves and petals!

YABC:  What’s on your TBR pile?

Currently I’m working on C.S. Lewis’ space trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hideous Strength). Next up after that is the Fallen series by Lauren Kate, and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

YABC:  What’s a book you’ve recently read and loved?

Midnight Sun was the most recent – I loved experiencing Twilight from Edward’s perspective! Also, the Numina trilogy by Charlie N. Holmberg. (She’s an amazing fantasy author, check her out if you’ve never heard of her!)

YABC:  What’s up next for you?

I’m currently editing the sequel to my first book! So that will be the next one to come out 😉.

YABC:  Which was the most difficult or emotional scene to narrate?

Okay, no spoilers, but “The Fall” of “Love, Blood & Magic” has a particularly emotional scene towards the end (you’ll know it when you read it). I think I may have actually cried when I finished it!

YABC:  Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?

I love drafting! Watching the story unfold on the page is so thrilling for me. Though, actually, I think my favorite part goes back even earlier than that. All of my books start out as a pile of sticky notes – I love the early days of a novel, where I’m basically just daydreaming and writing notes down! It’s putting all the notes together and trying to form a cohesive story where things get hard ><.
