Lara Jean’s love life gets complicated in this New York Times bestselling “lovely, lighthearted romance” (School Library Journal) from the bestselling author of The Summer I Turned Pretty series.
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them…all at once?
Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
1. What gave you the inspiration to write this book?
I was inspired by my own life. I used to write love letters to boys when I was trying to get over them, but thankfully, they never got sent out.
2. Who is your favorite character in the book?
It’s a tie between Peter and Stormy. And Kitty! And Lara Jean. Honestly, I love all of them.
3. Which came first, the title or the novel?
4. What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?
I think it might be the scene where Lara Jean and Margot fight, because it felt very true to sisterhood to me.
5. What do you like most about the cover of the book?
I love all the little details that make Lara Jean’s room feel like a real girl’s room.
6. What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2018?
Odd One Out by Nic Stone
7. What was your favorite book in 2017?
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
8. What’s up next for you?
It’s too soon to say. I’m in the early stages of a new book, but I’m still figuring out what it will end up being.
