Meet Soul Speaker!
A princess of death, a powerless prince, and a war neither of them want.
Once a century, a Soul Speaker is born. They are said to be the harbingers of either peace or destruction. When Elara develops a talent for talking to the dead, nobody can question what she is. From birth, a target is placed on her back. Fearing for her safety, her father keeps her locked in the castle, but Elara can’t sit still forever.
When the enemy captures her brother, Elara won’t put his fate in the hand of others, but he’s been taken by the Lightning Prince—Harland. Rumors say he’s the deadliest opponent on the battlefield, but how can he be stronger than the Soul Speaker? Elara is the only one who can save her brother and bring peace to the warring countries. But something sinister hides behind the walls of Elkania and Harland may be the only one who can help her.

YABC: What gave you the inspiration to write this book?
The idea for this book came from a dream I had a long time ago. Recently my friend Lauren inspired me to finish it. She gave me the encouragement and push I needed.
YABC: Who is your favorite character in the book?
That’s a toss up between Rogan and Tommy. Neither of them were supposed to be as important to the story as they wound up being. I fell in love with them more and more as the story progressed.
YABC: Which came first, the title or the novel?
The title definitely. I knew what it was going to be called before it turned into anything.
YABC: What scene in the book are you most proud of, and why?
I don’t want to give any spoilers but I like the scenes where we see Elara stepping into her role as the Soul Speaker and coming into her powers.
YABC: Thinking way back to the beginning, what's the most important thing you've learned as a writer from then to now?
The importance of description. I’ve come a long way since my first novel which seems terrible to me now. I’ve enjoyed watching my writing style grow and change for the better.
YABC: What do you like most about the cover of the book?
First off, I made it myself and absolutely love the color scheme and how it turned out. I love the purple and gold because it also reminds me of LSU (which is also my friend’s favorite team).
YABC: What new release book are you looking most forward to in 2022?
Oh that’s an easy one, The War of Two Queens (Blood And Ash Series Book 4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout! I love the From Blood and Ash series so much and recently got special editions of them.
YABC: What was your favorite book in 2021?
I would easily say A Court of Silver Flames (A Court of Thorns and Roses Book 4) by Sarah J. Maas. I loved Cassian and Nesta’s story! But I’m 1000000% looking forward to Azriel’s because he’s my favorite.
YABC: What's up next for you?
Currently working on the sequel to Soul Speaker and then I’ll be doing a modern day version of it with new characters!
YABC: Is there anything that you would like to add?
A little fun fact about me is that I absolutely love food, video gaming, and anime. I’m just a nerd who also loves to read and write. With my huge imagination, it’s fun sharing my worlds with others. I write for me just as much as I do for others since it’s a huge stress reliever.
YABC: Which was the most difficult or emotional scene to narrate?
Any scenes that involve death or anxiety. In Soul Speaker, Elara suffers from a panic attack and that took a little more effort than usual. Especially since my anxiety has been so bad this month.
YABC: Which character gave you the most trouble when writing your latest book?
I would have to say Harland. He’s strong and stubborn but I wanted him to be likable at the same time without it being “instant love”. It’s hard shaping the guy into who you want, at least it is for me.
YABC: Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?
Definitely drafting because I never know how the story is going to unfold until I get to the end.
YABC: What would you say is your superpower?
Being a single mom and a pediatric nurse. Both of those are exhausting jobs but I love each of them.
YABC: Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?
I love any organizations that help support animals and wildlife. I don’t have a specific one I follow, but support any I come across and can afford.
