What Worked: Biscuit and the Great Fall Day is a wonderful addition to the Biscuit series. It follows the tried-and-true format that is so beloved of the little girl and her dog Biscuit having fun together. This book takes place at an apple orchard where the little girl is very busy trying to collect apples while Biscuit happily explores his surroundings. His discovery of a squirrel leads him astray for a short time. But all is fine and light-hearted overall. I have excellent luck with this series when working with beginning readers. It has simple text and engaging illustrations that help beginning readers gain confidence and enjoy the act of reading a book on their own. I highly recommend this for your Preschool-1st grade children.
