As you might expect, nothing but woe befalls the unlucky Baudelaire orphans in the eighth grim tale in Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events that began with The Bad Beginning. Ever since the orphans' photographs were plastered across the front page of The Daily Punctilio in an article falsely accusing them of murder, they have been on the run. Only when they disguise themselves as cheerful hospital volunteers (Volunteers Fighting Disease, to be exact), do they see a possible refuge. Of course, this backfires hideously. Where is their ineffectual guardian, Mr. Poe, when they need him most? Will the evil, greedy Count Olaf be successful in giving poor Violet a cranioectomy at the Heimlich Hospital? Is a heart-shaped balloon really better than water for a thirsty patient? Is no news really good news? As ever, Snicket refuses to comfort young readers with cozy answers and satisfying escapes. And, as ever, there are plenty of rusty blades and horrible plot twists to make us shudder and shameless-but-hilarious wordplay to make us grimace happily. Bring on the next one!

The Hostile Hospital audiobook review
This is definitely not a hospital I'd want to go to. The volunteers only sing an annoying song, so busy with singing they can't actually do anything to help fight disease. Paperwork is the most important thing in the hospital. And that's not to mention all the doctors eager to see some girl get her head cut off with a rusty knife.

Similar to the other books in the series, formula-wise, but the mystery of VFD is both thickening and unraveling.

This book is about three sivlings whos parents died in a fire. There names are Sunny, Violet, and Klause. They are runing away for there lifes. They are being aqused for a murder they didn't do. They almost get caout by a murchent but get away by acting like V.D.F.

My opinion is this is a good and bad book at the same time. Its great story and everything. The bad part is just what happened to them. If my perants died in a fire I wouldn't be happy ever again.

Who wants to go to the doctors office now? Truly the fact that there was no guardian was a bit of a disappointment for me the story line and plot was amazing. Between live demonstrations, and alphabet soup this book has an amazing ending and on that you would not expect.
The way that Mr. Snicket wrote this book was totally like the way a young adult would think. Aside from the half finished hospital, and the cramped convenient store the whole book was a truly fantastic ride. Thanks for the amazing experience!

Take a closer look at your doctor and the hospital they're working at before getting sick! This tale is as the others in Lemony Snicket's wonderful series: bittersweet as to its presentation and content. It is as if the children can escape any circumstances to which Olaf puts upon them.

This is a good dramatic book in the series but it bored me after a while. I like to go around when I am reading but this whole story took place in the Hospital. That is basically the only flaw in the whole story. Otherwise it is dramatic, suspensful, and one of the orphans could be getting a little nip-tuck! Read it to find out. CW

I just finished reading this book today, and I was so exited that I nearly jumped out of my seat from the tenceness! Even though it was another one of Lemony Snicket's gloomy stories, 'The Hostile Hospital' was still an exiting book.

The eighth entry in the outstanding "Unfortunate Events" series is a notch below the others. The plot is good and moves along quickly. The orphans find themselves in the middle of nowhere after the hot air balloon that they used to escape From Count Olaf is deflated. They also find themselves wanted by authorities for the murder of Jacques Snicket. They spend the remainder of the book trying to allude the authorities and solve the ongoing mystery of Jacques Snicket and VFD. The descriptions of the half-finished hospital where they volunteer and the over-stuffed general store are the type of classic creativity we expect from this series. Unfortunately, the orphans are on their own this time and are not sent to live with a guardian, which detracted from the book for me. Fortunately, Lemony Snicket has promised that there will be 13 books in this series and I am eagerly awaiting #9.

In this bothersome book, you will encounter many, many horrible things: heart-shaped balloons, surgeon masks, alphabet soup, sugery, a secret, out of order records and files, a horrible mistake...etc.
Now, if you get really freaked out by needles (like so many people and animals do,)then I highly, strongly recomend something else...Like a book about pretty ponies and helpful gaurdians, please note that these things will never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever
come up in this or any of the books! And if they do, it is probably just a big type-o
