‘A Party on Planet Purple,’ adapted by May Nakamura, from the ‘Donkey Hodie’ television series, a Fred Rogers production, follows Purple Panda and Donkey Hodie as they embark on a trip to visit Planet Purple, where Purple Panda’s mother lives.

The story is cute, and while a bit ridiculous how much they keep forgetting for the party they’re throwing, the end result teaches a handful of morals, including how to keep one’s composure when life seems difficult, how to have positive relationships with friends and family, and how to appreciate when things work out.

‘Donkey Hodie’ is a wonderful series for kids, and these children’s books do a nice job of showcasing the stories told in the show quite well.
