Ex-convict Jean val Jean does things that get him in trouble. He is so mean, that he steals things from little kids walking down the street. Then, he gets sent to jail, and his jail number is 24601. He then tries to become a better person. Les Miserables is a classic (and also a play!), you'll be sure to like it.

Les Miserables is the tale of Jean Valjean, a released convict. Struggling with the guilt of a relapse into crime, Jean Valjean tries to rebuild his life. It goes well for a while. He is a respected member of his town. He gives to the poor and tries his hardest to save lives. One such life was that of Fantine, a woman on the streets. On her deathbed she begs him to take care of her daughter. However soon someone else is arrested in his place and Jean Valjean feels a pang of guilt. The choice battles in his mind. Should he turn himself in and destroy his life or let the other man be falsely arrested? But there is someone else's life on the stake as well. If he turns himself in Fantine's daughter will be left alone in the cruel care of an innkeeper...
Les Miserables is a truly touching novel that I will always remember. It is one of the most inspiring yet adventurous novel that I have ever read. My only complaint can be that the author sometimes rambles and goes off topic.
