Beautiful and bittersweet

I expected to cry but not so much! Even though I knew someone would die, since this is a Lurlene McDaniel book, I didn't expect to care so much about these wonderful characters and to feel such sadness. This is a great read, but don't forget the tissues!!

Good Points
All the characters, from the teens to the adults, are well-developed. Julie and Luke's story is so tender and heart-breaking you can't stop reading. Ms. McDaniel's writing style is very easy to read. The dialogue is realistic, and the settings from the Indiana hometown to LA to hospitals to football games are so well-drawn it's like watching a movie. In fact, this story would make a great movie!
Bad Points
In a couple of places the story seemed to "fast-forward" over some important plot points, making you wish you could have actually seen the scenes that were not written.

Don't Die, My Love Scores 5 Stars!

Reader reviewed by Tina Cord

Another one of Lurlene McDaniel's amazing Teen literature master pieces. Don't Die, My Love incorporates the joy and happiness true love may bring and the tough and depressing times that an unexpected disease may bring to any Teenager .

Julie Ellis and Luke Muldenhower have described themselves as "Soul Mates" Since the 6th grade when Luke asked Julie to marry him. They have been deeply in love and inseparable ever since. Now in High school, 17 year old Luke Muldenhower, star Quarter back for the the Warriors football team not to meation awesome student and an all around nice guy gets sick. His Girlfriend Julie Persuades him to see a Doctor, but the results are not exactly what the young couple were expecting to hear. Luke gets diagnoses with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a type of cancer that develops in the lymph system.
The unexpected diagnosis not only crushes Luke dreams of becoming an NFL superstar but his future with the Love of his life, Julie.
Luke is not the only one dealing with the cancer, but so is Julie. The Couple both fight for Luke and their love to stay alive.
Can their love possibly be stronger than anything?

I recommend this book to all teens that have either gone through a rough patch with a disease themselves or that have know a loved one that has  struggled with a disease. I also recommend this book to anyone who is interested in love stories and that aren't afraid if books don't end with the normal Fairy Tale ending. This book is not only an amazing read but an also inspiring and a learning heartfelt story.

Classic tear-jerker

Reader reviewed by catarina

This is an outstanding book.It leaves you flipping through the pages untill you have finished it!Once you pick up this book, you'll never want to put it down. Luke and Julie are more then just your average sweet-hearts, what they have is even more! when luke is hospitiallized with a serious illness Julie is left only to hope for the best. When the news is announced that Luke past-away Julie is heart broken! Luke leaves Julie a sign from Heaven on ther football-field, which brings a smile to her empty face. I recomend this book to everyone!

one of the best; intensely amazing!

Reader reviewed by oc lover<3

One of the best books i have ever read. Intensely sweet, real, and a book about love. One of McDaniel's best.
The characters are portrayed in a very real and vulnerable, sensitive way, which automatically makes you love them!
I cried to hard at the end of this book, every time I read it! which was 5 times, because this book just does that to you. It gets you every time.
Don't Die My Love is one of the most well-written books i have ever read, and it is one of my top favorite books of all time! Also, this is my favorite book out of all of McDaniel's others.

Its Fate!

Reader reviewed by Val

I absolutely loved this book I think its fate I was supposed to read it becuase I got it for my birthday and around the same time a friend gave it to me to read. I have read the book twice so far and evach time I read it I start to cry, it's definitely a bitter-sweet romance novel like many of her other books. I would describe the book but I know I wouldn't be able to do it justice and I'd end up cryig just thinking about it. I like the over all message that love is undying and that love is worth dying. Oh god... here come the tears! I would definitely reccomend this book its relatable and teaches girls that when your dealt with uncontrolable situations never give up on those whom you care about and never on your self not matter how hard it can seem!

A really good book a must read!!

Reader reviewed by Skater

"Don't Die my Love" was the first book I read of hers. I LOVED the book it really tough me alot about the little things in life that can turn your world upside down. I never really liked to read before I read "Don't Die me Love." My Grandmother and I were in a book store and she said that I could have anybook I wanted . Well somehow I pick up this book and read the back I wanted to read the whole thing so I bought it. Now I love to read and have read 23 out of her 35 books. If you are reading this review and have not read one of her book you are missing out of so much. She really know how to take hold of a young girls heart and not let go untill you've learned the lesson she was set out to teach.

One of my favorite books! So touching!!

Reader reviewed by Karen Smith

I thought this book was wonderful. Although it was sad, I wasn't able to put the book down!! This book is a bout a teenage couple of Luke Muldenhower and Julie Ellis. They are deeply in love, but when Luke can't get rid of a what seems like a flu, Julie convinces him to go to the doctor's and realizes that he has cancer. Through many medical treatments, it seems that he finally recovers. But, how long will that last?

I was crying when I read the last few chapters of this book. After reading this book, I read many other books by Lurlene McDaniel, and I think she's one of the most inspiring authors of our time. A MUST READ. Yes, it's a romance book, and mushy too.

Sweet touching book.

Reader reviewed by Booksr4me

This was a fantastic book! I loved the characters and the plot. The book is about a couple named Luke and Julie who are young and in love. When Luke can't shake a cold Julie encourages him to go to the doctor. The news is less than happy. Luke discovers he has cancer. Julie is overwhlemed by the fact that she can lose.

My favorite part is when Julie finds the flowers in her fathers football field from Luke and looks up to the sky and says " Do you think you can always fix things wth flowers?"
