A great classical read

Running away from the shame of her expulsion, Karigan G'ladheon travels into the
forest called the Green Cloak, she meets a Green Rider -a group of
legendary and elite messengers in the King's service-who is dying with
two black arrows protruding from his back. The Green Rider, makes Karigan swear to carry a message to Sacor City for the
'love of her country'. As as he passes on, he whispers with his last breath; "beware the shadow man...".
Karigan takes over the Green Rider's mission. Through her mission she's faced with many dangers and troubles both magic and mundane. If the message doesn't get to the king in time then the people of the Sacor kingdom will be in grave danger. The same question always pops up just how willing is Karigan to deliver the message.
This is an incredible fantasy book, all the ideas are orginal and well-thought out. The characters are well developed. This is one of the best fantsy books I have ever read, sure it's long but I wouldn't want it any shorter. Karigan is one of those strong female heriones who will do everying in her power to do what is right and help her people. The horse, Condor, was a lovable character as well.
choices, honor, and adventure

This is fantasy; excellently done. The basic plot is - Karigan, who is nineteen, is expelled(for fighting) and runs away from her school. In the forest she encounters a Green Rider(who are special messengers for the king), and this one, dying, asks her whether she'll take on and finish his mission - and she chooses to do so, "for the love of king and her country". The rest of the book is her adventures and discoveries - very well developed and told. What I like a lot in the book is that she isn't overwhelmed by "they are so special, I want to be one of them" - Kari makes her own choices, and continues to do so throughout the book, including at the end. And she is honorable and honest.
Fantasy lover's favorites!

I really enjoyed reading 'Green Rider' by Kristen Britain! I usually don't read fantasy novels, but this one was really really good. Karigan G'ladheon (the main character) was a great protagonist, not someone you could really relate to, but someone the author made so likeable, that you have to be able to understand her. The book required at least a little knowledge to read, and I enjoyed it simply for that reason. It is enjoyable when the author expresses knowledge, and forces the reader to learn something too.
The Wild Ride... - Must Read!

I really like to read books, and one of my favorite genres is fantasy. But out of all the books I read, Green Rider is one of my favorite books! Kristen Britain weaves this magical story about a girl named Karigan G'ladheon with adventure, magic, mystery and suspense.
Karigan G'ladheon's brave adventure begins, believe it or not, when she runs away. She finds a dying Green Rider and makes the promise that would change her life forever. Once accepting the dying Green Rider's brooch and duty to deliver the message to the King, she finds herself with more than she expected. With assassins at her heels, and a spririt watching her, Karigan faces the most difficult challenges she has ever faced. But although she is so often pursued, she makes terrific friends along the way, helping her. However, once Karigan fulfills what her she has thought her duty was, she finds that it is an entirely different story. Now, because of that one promise and oath, Karigan finds that the King's life, Sacordia's future and most importantly, her father's life is in her hands.

Wow.
I had the utter stupidity to read this book wheN only it's sequel was written and not the third book. Now I must wait in agony instead being blissfully unaware of this tumultuous tale.
Green Rider way a book that captivated me first y it's cover, then by it's excerpt. You cannot tell me that a story of a run-away girl who finds a dying man, promises to take his super important message to the king before all is lost, and gets to talk to a ghost while wearing a fab green coat doesn't appeal to you.
This is a book for those of you who love Harry Potter, Eragon, and those other great fantasy books that happen to be slipping my mind.
And now I will not say anything more, for I pray you do not read this book and it's fantastic sequel, First Rider's Call, until the third book is up and available. I fear you will end up in the sweet torment that is waiting.
Messenger Girl

The story begins when Karigan G'ladheon is walking home after she is sent away from Selium, her school. A horse brings a green rider, one of the king's messangers, with two arrows in his back. He gives Karigan a message of greatest import before dying. Karigan is forced to flee on the horse from whoever was chasing the green rider, and goes about delivering the message herself. It is a wonderful book, full of adventure and beliveable characters, that I had to force myself to put down.
