When Philip Walker appears as a new student in Michele Windsor's high school class, she is floored. He is the love she thought she lost forever when they said goodbye during her time travels last century. Overjoyed that they can resume the relationship they had a lifetime ago, Michele eagerly approaches him and discovers the unthinkable: he doesn't remember her. In fact, he doesn't seem to remember anything about the Philip Walker of 1910.

Michele then finds her father's journals, which tell stories of his time-traveling past. As she digs deeper, she learns about his entanglement with a mysterious and powerful organization called the Time Society and his dealings with a vengeful Windsor ancestor. Michele soon finds herself at the center of a rift over 120 years in the making, one whose resolution will have life-or-death consequences.

Alexandra Monir's Timekeeper combines breathtaking romance with a tale of complex magic in a sequel that will have every reader believing in the transcendent power of love.

Editor reviews

TIMEKEEPERS is the second book in the Timeless series. This story takes off right after book one ends. Michele Windsor's passes out in class when she thinks she sees her soul mate Philip Walker again. Problem is her long lost love Philip is from 1910. This new student looks, sounds, and acts like Philip but doesn't remember anything of the past.

Michele is determined to get Philip to remember. But in the meantime a ghost from the past is out to erase Michele from history. Michele learns about a powerful organization called the Time Society which might have the answers she's looking for.

What worked

This sequel answered some of the questions I had with the first book. I was confused a few times on how Michele was able to jump back and forth into time. I kind of figured it had to do with a time travel gene that allowed this to happen. Unlike TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, Michele can go back further than the year she was born and only stays for a very short time.

A huge plus was adding the backstory which really helps this novel. The Time Society is an organization that deals with those who can time travel like Michele. Problem is her father broke two of their rules which makes Michele torn between 1904 and present. Her father's journal also shows readers hints of what happened with Rebecca, a mysterious and vengeful ghost who vows to destroy Michele in seven days. Their past reveals why Rebecca turns on not only him but his daughter. There's also a talisman that helps people travel back in time.

The romance between Michele and Philip had a SOMEWHERE IN TIME feel to it though this novel wasn't as bittersweet as the first book. Michele can't get over the chemistry and pull Philip has over her.

I did feel the story was a tad bit rushed in places especially the climax where Michele confronts Rebecca. I almost wanted the scene to slow down a bit between the fast jumps in time. Also I felt Michele rushed too fast with revealing what she knew about their past lives together. It seems a guy would totally freak out at first before dealing with his own emotions. Though I did like that there is a very serious consequence to having a child between a time traveler and someone else. This did help explain some of the issues Michele had with jumping back in time at any moment.

This is a fast-paced time-travel romance with hints of magic throughout. I did feel it was a satisfying follow-up to the first book. For fans of enduring love stories that span time.
