Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach? It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.

But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach.

It's Not Summer Without You (Summer #2)

In Book 2 of the Summer series, we find 16yr old Belly in between her Junior and Senior year of high school but she's not spending her summer at Cousin's Beach like she's done every year of her life. Instead, she's at home. Things have changed over the past winter leaving Belly hurt, confused and nursing a broken heart.

The only place that's ever felt like "home" to her is the beach house, but now she doesn't know if she'll ever return. She finally finds her way back when Jeremiah calls needing her help with Conrad. Knowing it might be the last summer the three of them share together at Cousins Beach, she's willing to do whatever she has to, to make things right again.

We get to see and read from Jeremiah's perspective in this one which is a nice change. It doesn't seem as one sided and it's always nice to know what's going on inside the mind of a cute boy.

Good Points
The characters make several attempts to put aside their own feelings in order to help each other through a painful time of loss.
