For Laura Ingalls, Christmas means good things to eat, visits from friends, and special gifts to give and receive. As Laura grows up, every Christmas is better than the one before.
Laura Ingalls Wilder takes you into the pioneer world and what it was like to spend the holiday season in a little house before technology. The children entertained themselves and wished for little things like candy. It takes you back in time and is a classic Christmas story that I enjoyed reading to my daughter.
In a world full of technology, this is a good story to make people remember how important the little things are. Laura takes you through the different Christmases she's had in the big woods and on the prairie. I loved the "Meet Laura" section where it tells us who Laura really was. There's also some activities in the back of the book like word scramble, word search, and a sing-along of Jingle Bells.
Final Verdict: I absolutely love this story for the holiday season and think it should be read to all children to show them what life was like before technology.
