From author-illustrator Ged Adamson comes the funny and sweet story of Shark Dog: half shark, half dog, and a one-of-a-kind pet.
Shark Dog is no ordinary pet. Sometimes when he does dog things, he's more like a shark. And sometimes when he does shark things, he's more like a dog. But when Shark Dog gets homesick, he starts thinking maybe he belongs with the other shark dogs. Will he go back to Shark Dog Island or decided to stay in his new home? With quirky and colorful art, Shark Dog! is perfect for fans of such funny books as Hello, My Name Is Octicorn and The Adventures of Beekle.
SHARK DOG! is half-dog, half-shark, and 100 percent the main girl's friend.
The main girl, whose name isn't mentioned, goes on an adventure with her dad. He's an explorer and on this trip, something wakes the girl up in the middle of the night. It turns out to be Shark Dog. Since he's friendly, her dad says she can keep him.
Being half-shark, half-dog, there's nobody like Shark Dog where the girl is from and this makes him sad. He also does things differently and gets into trouble as a result. So, the girl brings him home to cheer him up. He has the opportunity to stay, but home is where the heart is, and the girl has become his closest friend.
Final Verdict: This was a cute, different read about meeting new friends. I loved that as a dog, he did things like a shark, and as a shark, he did things like a dog. The only I wish were different was that the girl had a name. Other than that, it's an interesting read for ages 4-8.
