A Perfect Bedtime Story
In WIDE-AWAKE BEAR, baby cub Elliott is supposed to be hibernating with his mom and sleeping until spring. The only problem is that he is wide awake and spring still isn't here yet. Thoughts of all of the fun spring activities make it even harder for Elliott to fall back asleep. There's fish, sunshine, soft grass, and flowers.
Now that he's awake, he sees things from a new perspective and it's scary. There's a shape outside and shadows dancing on the walls. When mama bear wakes up she explains that there's nothing to be afraid of and that spring is working its magic. After a good meal and the warmth of his mom, he's finally able to drift into sleep land.
This book is the perfect bedtime story. My daughter has trouble sleeping too, so this would fit our nights. The pictures are adorable and I love that it teaches about the transition from winter into spring.
Final Verdict: I would recommend this as a bedtime story, especially to those children who love animals. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading it to my daughter as she too drifts off to sleep, just like Elliott.
