Hilarious rhyming story about picky eaters
In rhyme so perfect, it flows (and is a pure delight to read aloud), we learn about the Peters family. Their first child, Peter, would not drink his milk cold. He would not drink his milk hot. He only liked it at a certain perfect warm temperature. His mom hastened to be sure young Peter's milk was just right.
When Lucy Peters is born, she will not drink milk at any temperature. Only pink lemonade--homemade.
And so, on and on, the family grows its brood of picky eaters, with the poor mother frazzled by complying with their wishes. And then, one day it's mom's birthday and her children set out to make her an amazing cake.
This is one of those perfect read-alouds. It's funny, lively, and joyfully celebrates the family. The illustrations, by the amazing Marla Frazee, are perfect. They're slightly old-fashioned, and full of hilarious and heartwarming detail.
