The Best in the series.... Yet!
It's been a month since I finished reading this book.
Beautiful Chaos continues the story of the Mortal Ethan Wate and his love, the Caster Lena Duchannes. After surviving the happenings in the tunnels and claiming herself as both Light and Dark, Lena and the rest of Gatlin experiences near-apocalyptic events and must find a way to stop this while figuring out the Eighteenth Moon.
The series at it's finest! As of now, this is my favorite one in the series. The book isn't that slow anymore, and the story line's just keep getting better and better. The authors did an amazing job on giving more background on supporting characters like Liv and John Breed. There's heartbreaking moments and more action within the book. The cliffhanger was a real shocker for me. It left me wanting, desiring, mad, crazy, insane for more! I couldn't get over with the end. I really hope that the fourth and last book would be more amazing and better than this one.
The characters seemed more attached to me than it ever were. Link's even more cooler with his new Incubus powers. Ridley more evil and seductive in this book. All the Casters have their powers dangerously uncontrolled. The characters bump into a lot more mishap and a lot more chaos. The book also gets an in-depth story on the background of the Caster world, and of course, Lena's history. It's just so wonderful to be back on Gatlin, and feel so much magical? I thought so too. It seems to me that the readers of this book will crave for the fourth one, now that they've read the ending. For me, it just punched a hole into my stomach, leaving me crying and mad.
I couldn't wait for the last book. The authors did an excellent, or may I say, perfect job on creating such a turn of events. I would really recommend this series, not just this book, to all YA fans.
Non-stop Action!
Get ready for an action and mystery-filled book.
Every Other Day centres on Kali D’Angelo, a teenage girl who grown up to be a demon hunter. Well, not exactly a demon hunter every day. For every other day, she’s just normal, and every twenty four hours, she’s an efficient, deadly demon hunter. But her life takes a turn when she saves a girl, marked for death. She races against time to save herself and her friends before she turns back into her human self… and discover some answers to her own situation.
Dang it! I can’t stop thinking about this book! It’s amazingly good, and I have been graced to read this book in advance (a special thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for making this possible). It has the most important aspects of an urban-fantasy novel: kick-ass scenes, witty remarks, heartbreaking situations, and a mystery so deep you have to finish the book before you get the answer. Barnes did an excellent job on conceiving a brand new, original fantasy novel.
The characters were so cool and detailed, they were believable. Their lines were witty and funny, I so love them. I especially love Skylar, because she’s not the typical best friend you see around. Skylar is both psychic and thoughtful; she knows how to deal with her friends and how to support them. Kali was also great, though she spends her time alone for the most part of the book. Barnes expanded the definition of paranormal in this book. She cites creatures that were once popular, like the Chupacabra or the Hellhounds. Not to mention, Philippines’ own mythical monster, the Alan. Reading the book is so exciting, exhilarating, and thrilling; it’s like watching an Action/Thriller film, plus a little bit of gore. But what kept me up was the mystery. It lingers on my skin, as I dig deep on the book to find the secret to Kali’s condition.
There wasn’t a part I didn’t like, and it’s rich in details, fast-paced, and very thrilling. It has a bit of romance, though it was pushed back to pave way for more action and mystery. It’s what I really love about this book. Barnes focused on action and mystery of the book, not a common formula for bestselling books. I sure hope that readers would really find this book very amazing.
I highly recommend this to all booklovers, book bloggers, and to those who are hyped with thrilling books.
Dystopian at its finest!
A great choice to read this.
The story is about Beatrice Prior, who lives in the dystopian future of Chicago, Illinois. Every 16 year old must make a choice what faction (group of people) would they dedicate their lives to forever. For Tris (She renames herself), it’s a heartbreaking choice to leave her family. The choice she resolved surprised everyone. She chose a faction where people risk their lives to do something that involves courage and determination. As she encounters each stage of the initiation, she discovers a horrible secret that might unfold what seems to be a perfect dystopia.
This is my first time to read a dystopian novel. AND IT WAS GREAT! I have second thoughts about this when I first looked at it on a bookstore, and after buying it, I never regretted the decision to take it! I finished it in just a day (Which is so rare for me). What kept me unguarded were the mystery, thrill, and excitement. It was a perfect example of what I see of Earth in an alternate universe. Everybody says it’s better than Hunger Games and Matched though I think not really (I haven’t read those two; it’s still on my “to-read” list). But it was 100% perfect! Roth brings up what makes a dystopian novel so thrilling and full of action. Even though the novels full of heartbreaking scenarios, Roth fills it up with wit and romance.
The story was perfect. I imagined many things at once if the world would be like this. And Tris is great example of a heroine. She’s smart, strong, kind, and determined. She never let’s anyone control her, even her family. And her friends make one hell of a company. Christine knocked my feet off with her jokes and with Will and Al for their strong support in the story. My favourite part of the novel was the part were Tris’s mom save her from the brainwashed soldiers. It was so full of hope and thrill, but was cut early by an unfortunate event. And the romance part was great. It slows up all the hype and lets the characters unfold themselves on their soft part. The action was great! Guns and combat, it’s like watching a Matrix movie or something like that. The thrill creeps up on me every time a chapter begins. Those antagonists are written perfectly. I hate them! That should be the point. Antagonists are not to be loved, they’re to be hated. It really checks up on me if I still hate those bad-ass enemies.
This novel rocked my world. It still does. It now inspires me to reach up to those dystopian novels and read it. I thought it was bad, but it wasn’t. It was like a teenager’s ordinary day, where their Sweet Sixteen will make them choose the life they want, and then they continue to make their lives meaningful, and the part where the initiation rites are like rites when you want to join a club, set aside the dangerous games. You’d love this if you read it. Choices are good, but don’t have doubts on this book. It’s as good as a freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies. Be sure to check out your nearest bookstore and grab a copy of this thrilling debut.
Recommending to readers of Hunger Games, and those who, like me, haven’t read Dystopian novels.
