Meet A.M. Rose!

A.M. Rose is the author of Road to Eugenica, and writer of young adult novels of all genres as long as they have a hint of romance, the drinker of too much coffee (with way too much coconut creamer), and lover of all carbohydrates.

Currently, she lives in Houston, TX with her three boys (yes, her husband is in that count) and three cats. When she isn’t writing about swoony boys or ways for her MC to get into trouble, she is an avid reader, a literary agent intern, critiquer (is that even a word?) and trampoline enthusiast.

A.M. Rose is a graduate from San Diego State University with a BA in Communication and a minor in underwater basket weaving. (Okay, maybe not the basket weaving part.)

Meet Road To Eugenica!

Yesterday, Drea Smith couldn’t do anything spectacular—even walking and texting at the same time was a challenge. But today, she suddenly has more answers than Google, can speak and understand numerous languages, and she can fight. Like a boss.

Seriously cool.

Drea has no idea where her encyclopedic knowledge has come from, but she’ll take it when she discovers someone out there knows her secret and wants her badly. And that they’ve been searching for her since she was born.

Since she was created.

With the help of her best friend Dylan, who just wants to keep her safe, and Maddox, a mysterious new boy who is prepared to get her answers, Drea will have to push her new skills to their limit as she uncovers nothing is quite what it seems.

As she uncovers…Eugenica.

~ Excerpt from Road to Eugenica ~

It’s now or never. I pull in a deep breath and sprint across the grass at top speed. I’m light on my feet, barely making a sound as they hit the ground. Blood roars through my ears. I’m so close—the building is right in front of me. Ten feet. Five. I can do this. My feet dig in harder and I push forward, looking toward the parking lot as I clear the building. The Green-eyed man is staring right at me from behind a parked car.

Double shit.

My hands tremble as I dash through the campus. I might not be able to outrun him, but what if I can outsmart him? What’s the last thing he would expect me to do? That’s when it hits me. I race toward a bronze sculpture of our founding principal standing next to the one-story arts building. A flash comes across my mind, and my body takes over as I run at full speed toward the statue. I jump onto the pedestal before using my feet to parkour off the side of the building, landing on the propped-up knee of the sculpture. I push off, hitting the wall with one foot and using my other on the shoulder of the sculpture to propel myself to the top of the building. My feet slide against the rock and gravel roof, and I drop down on my stomach, lying flat. He’d never expect me to just stop running.

A scream is sealed inside my lips as I wait. I can’t move. I can’t even breathe too loud. Or it will ruin everything. Seconds pass like minutes, and minutes pass like hours. Periodically cheers erupt in the distance. I wish I were sitting in the stands right now, instead of my face being pressed into a gravel roof with dirt in my eyes. Maybe that’s what I should’ve done. The Green-eyed man wouldn’t do anything to me if I was surrounded by people. Would he? And here, I’m alone…

~ Top 5 Characters with Super Human Abilities in Pop Culture ~

In Road to Eugenica, the main character, Drea finds herself possessing some rather unique super human abilities. (Her mind works better than a computer and her body stronger than any machine.) With that in mind, let’s talk about the top five characters with super human abilities. (Drea not included.)

  1. Wonder Woman

Maybe this one is a little unfair to start with, since (Wonder Woman) Diana was raised and trained to be a warrior. (Unlike Drea, in Road to Eugenica.) Not only can WW kick some serious ass, she has an incredible moral compass for what’s right and wrong. I was beyond excited when Warner Bros. took the Marvel Comic and came out with the movie. They did an excellent jobIMO. I could watch it over and over.

  1. Rogue (X-Men)

If you’ve read any other blog posts from me, you are probably wondering why I didn’t pick Mystique (my all-time favorite). But I think Rogue’s abilities take her a step above. Not only can she absorb the power from anyone else, but she can also bring them down while doing it. And IMO this makes her someone you shouldn’t mess with.

  1. Kilgrave (aka The Purple Man)

Yes, I know, I know. Another Marvel comic character, but hear me out. Kilgrave, while not a superhero rather a supervillain has the incredible super human ability to manipulate people’s minds at will. (Come on. How cool is that? Don’t tell me you wouldn’t want this ability if it was offered to you.) While he doesn’t use his powers for good, he has some seriously good power.

  1. Buffy (Yes, the vampire slayer.)

Just like Drea in Road to Eugenica, Buffy has abilities she never knew about thrust upon her. Buffy starts with just wanting a normal life and learns to embrace her destiny. (Will Drea? I guess you’ll have to read the book to find out.)

  1. Spiderman

Peter Parker is just minding his own business on a school fieldtrip when, POW. He’s bitten by a radioactive spider. Drea is just minding her own business on a school fieldtrip, when an incident raises suspicion on who she might truly be. Coincidence? Maybe. But either way it’s pretty cool.

At first glance I thought it was mainly a romance, but considering how much I love sci-fi, fantasy, and such. I love that it has some “super powers” in it, and the synopsis sounds interesting.
