Meet Heart Of Iron!

An action-packed tale full of romance, royalty, and adventure, inspired by the story of Anastasia. Perfect for fans of Six of Crows, Cinder, and the cult classic television show Firefly.

Seventeen-year-old Ana is a scoundrel by nurture and an outlaw by nature. Found as a child drifting through space with a sentient android called D09, Ana was saved by a fearsome space captain and the grizzled crew she now calls family. But D09—one of the last remaining illegal Metals—has been glitching, and Ana will stop at nothing to find a way to fix him.

Ana’s desperate effort to save D09 leads her on a quest to steal the coordinates to a lost ship that could offer all the answers. But at the last moment, a spoiled Ironblood boy beats Ana to her prize. He has his own reasons for taking the coordinates, and he doesn’t care what he’ll sacrifice to keep them.

When everything goes wrong, she and the Ironblood end up as fugitives on the run. Now their entire kingdom is after them—and the coordinates—and not everyone wants them captured alive.

What they find in a lost corner of the universe will change all their lives—and unearth dangerous secrets. But when a darkness from Ana’s past returns, she must face an impossible choice: does she protect a kingdom that wants her dead or save the Metal boy she loves?

Top Songs That Inspired

Heart of Iron

I can’t listen to music while I write. It’s a curse, really.

Luckily, though, I love to drive. I usually hop into Alfalfa (my car) when I’m really stressed about a scene and take it for a spin to figure things out. And what better place to crank up the stereo and listen to some sweet tunes?

I end up compiling playlists based on the book I’m writing at the time. It’s cathartic for me — listening to a song I’ve heard over and over again, where I know every note, every lyric, every sick beat drop.

Joking aside, music inspires a lot of what I write and how I write it. Songs help me shape ideas into fully-functional plots, and some songs are the theme songs to entire chapters.

I’ve been working on Heart of Iron on and off for the last six years, so I have a pretty long playlist by now (which you can go check out over on my Spotify! https://open.spotify.com/user/127443401/playlist/3MaALF9QN2gg6t9a9TRTrQ) but here are the top five songs that have inspired the story from day one (and, weirdly enough, none of them are from Anastasia but… there is a Tarzan).

…And don’t judge my smol 22-year-old self for some of these choices okay? Six years is a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

BAES IN SPACE! This is a book I have been excited about for awhile now, Anastasia is my favorite movie and mixing it with Sci-Fi sounds like a great story. The cover is gorgeous and I can't wait to read it!
