It's Live!! Cover Reveal: The Way It Hurts by Patty Blount + Giveaway (US/Canada)

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE WAY IT HURTS by Patty Blount, releasing August 1, 2017 from Sourcebooks Fire. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Patty:

Hello, YABC! I’m Patty Blount, author of THE WAY IT HURTS, coming this summer from Sourcebooks Fire. I am super-excited to show you the cover for THE WAY IT HURTS and hope you’ll love it as much as I do.

You know, designing book covers is really hard. I tried it myself a few times but trust me, Sourcebooks Fire’s creative team is so much better at it than I am. They’ve taught me that the best covers are the ones that make people stop and stare. I think this cover is one that will do that and hope you think so, too. My eternal thanks to everyone on the creative team. This cover ROCKS!

THE WAY IT HURTS

by Patty Blount
Release date: August 1, 2017
Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire
 ISBN: 9781492632788

About the Book

Music is Elijah’s life. His band plays loud and hard, and he’ll do anything to get them a big break. He needs that success to help take care of his sister, who has special needs. So he’d rather be practicing when his friends drag him to a musical in the next town…until the lead starts to sing.

Kristen dreams of a career on stage like her grandmother’s. She knows she needs an edge to get into a competitive theater program — and being the star in her high school musical isn’t going to cut it. The applause and the attention only encourage her to work harder.

Elijah can’t take his eyes off of Kristen. He captures her in costume and posts the image and a provocative comment online. It goes viral, casting a new spotlight on them as the online backlash spins out of control. And the consequences are bigger than they could ever have imagined when the threats don’t stay online…they follow them into real life.

About the Author

Powered by lots of chocolate, Patty Blount is the author of several critically-acclaimed internet issues novels for teens, including the award-winning SOME BOYS. A voracious reader, Patty is prone to falling madly in love with fictional characters, and suffers frequent broken hearts when they all invariably prefer the heroine to her… go figure. When she’s not writing, Patty loves to watch bad sci-fi movies and live tweet the hilarity.

I LOVE the cover of THE WAY IT HURTS. Anyone who has ever attended high school can relate to this picture. I am sure that every one of us has seen a girl - or has been that girl who has sat on the floor with her back against a wall, or against her locker - with her head down trying to hide her tears. Unfortunately, it happens all too often.
The synopsis is perfect. It gives just enough detail to have potential readers wanting to know exactly what Elijah posted online.
I will be adding this book to my TBR (To Be Read) list.

This sounds great. I'm a sucker for music related stories, they always pull me in. The cover is beautiful- full of anguish and longing but colorful and gripping.
