It’s Live!! Cover Reveal: The Handsome Girl and Her Beautiful Boy by B.T. Gottfred + Giveaway (US Only)

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for THE HANDSOME GIRL AND HER BEAUTIFUL BOY by B.T. Gottfred, releasing May 2018. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from B.T.:

Dear beautiful YABC souls!

My name is Art Adams, a ‘character’ in the book “THE HANDSOME GIRL AND HER BEAUTIFUL BOY.” I put the word character in quotes because the ‘author’ B.T. Gottfred and I are still in negotiations whether he owes me royalties for writing (or STEALING?!) my life story. Yes, I love the title (and that gorgeous cover!) even though I tried to insist since the story is equally Zee’s and mine, that there should have been a version that read ‘The Beautiful Boy and His Handsome Girl’. Supposedly the publisher told Mr. Gottfred (and I only call him mister because he’s amazingly ollllllldddddd) that to have two titles for the same book was impossible. OR DID THEY? Maybe he’s lying. He probably is. Here’s the thing I’ve learned about writers: don’t trust a word they say. (Except, duh, the parts in the book that make me sound perfect. Those are obviously true. Ha.)

Okay, okay, there might also be parts in the book where I come across as not-so-perfect that are also true. But it’s really dramatic so even when I’m making terrible mistakes, at least I’m not boring, right? Do you want me to keep talking about myself? Because I could. I’m very good at it. The only problem is super old Mr. Gottfred likes to cut m—

(Author’s note: part of his life story negotiations included Art’s demand that he get to write all the press and marketing. So I apologize for that. I did put a word count limit which allows me to insert a special thank you to everyone at YABC, both staff and the readers & fans who have made young adult literature one of the most vibrant and vital communities of any art form out in the world today.)

~ B.T. Gottfred

THE HANDSOME GIRL AND HER BEAUTIFUL BOY

By: B.T. Gottfred

Release date: May 2018

About the Book

Most people at Riverbend High School assume the beautiful Art is gay and the androgynous Zee is a lesbian. Art loves books, Zee loves sports. Art loves telling the world who he is, Zee loves telling no one anything. Despite these differences, Art falls in love with Zee at first sight.

Zee, however, remains in love with her best friend Cam even though he’s in a relationship with the hyper-feminine Abigail. But when personal tragedy and transcendence strike both Art and Zee, they discover they are not the opposites they appear to be, but rather the opposite of opposites.

As they explore who they are and whom they truly desire, Art and Zee fight to remain united even as the rest of the world seems so determined to tear them apart.
