Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for the BRAVE ENOUGH by Kati Gardner, releasing August 21, 2018 from Flux. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Kati: 

Hi YA Books Central! It’s so great to be here today to do the OFFICIAL COVER RELEASE of my debut novel BRAVE ENOUGH! 

I am just over the moon to be here today! When we were working on the cover for BRAVE ENOUGH I didn’t have much of an idea about what I wanted in a cover. I’m a terrible artist, y’all, it was something I was almost scared to even think about! I knew I wanted it to somehow convey being broken, but also show hope. When we were discussing the different concepts our amazing artist Sarah Taplin came up with, I gravitated towards this one. I loved how the colors shifted and morphed into different colors. To me, I felt like it really represented the story and how you can start out in one place and change into another. The image of a classic ballet dancer, with the iconic bun, just made it perfect. 

We all start out in one place and end up in another. 

I hope you enjoy this cover and BRAVE ENOUGH.

About the Book

Teenager Cason Martin is the youngest ballerina in the Atlanta Ballet Conservatory. She never really had a choice of whether she learned to dance or not. Her mother, the conservatory's artistic director, has made all the decisions in Cason's life. But that's about to change. Cason has been hiding an injury, and it's much worse than anyone imagines.

Davis Channing understands all too well what it's like to give up control of your life. He's survived cancer, but his drug addiction nearly killed him. Now he's been sober for seven months and enjoying his community service at the hospital. But just when he thinks he's got it together, Davis's ex-girlfriend, who is still battling her addiction, barrels back into his life.

Cason and Davis are not friends. But, as their worlds collide, they will start to depend on one another. Can they both be brave enough to beat the odds?

 
About the Author

Kati Gardner is a recovering actor, wife, and mom. She is also a childhood cancer survivor and amputee who writes books about disability and kissing. Originally from Atlanta, she now lives and writes in Raleigh, North Carolina. Brave Enough is her first novel. I absolutely love this cover! I'm a big fan of this kind of art style, and the colors are perfect! I love this synopsis as well. I have cerebral palsy, and I am so happy to see more #ownvoices disability YA. It gets me so excited for the future!

Stunning cover! It reminds me of how life can be both messy and beautiful. Eagerly anticipating this book! On a side note: I met Kati at a book event, and she is such a talented and lovely person.

The cover is definitely spot-on and matches the plot very well. Books about "invisible" injuries really hit close to home with me, and I would absolutely love a chance to read this story!

The cover is eye-catching. The synopsis makes the book sound interesting. It definitely seems like an unusual topic. As a cancer survivor myself (thankfully not resulting in loss of limb and not as a teen), I am curious as to how things were covered and discussed. Especially from the perspective of a young person who is a dancer to boot. Cancer is definitely life changing and to be forced to go from an accomplished dancer to an amputee .... well, you certainly had a story to tell.
