It's Live!! Cover Reveal: Among the Red Stars by Gwen C. Katz + Giveaway (Intl)

Hi, YABCers!

Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for AMONG THE RED STARS by Gwen C. Katz, releasing October 3, 2017 from Harper Teen. Before we get to the cover, here's a note from Gwen:

I've always loved hand-drawn illustrated covers, but they're extremely uncommon in YA, so it really was more than I could have hoped for when I saw Owen's gorgeous cover artwork. I love Valka's confident, aggressive pose and the lush palette. On top of that, Owen asked for my help meticulously researching the costumes and aircraft to present an image that's as historically accurate as it is eye-catching. What more could I ask for?

AMONG THE RED STARS

by Gwen C. Katz
Release date: October 3, 2017
Publisher: Harper Teen
 ISBN: 978-0062642745

About the Book
World War Two has shattered Valka’s homeland of Russia, and Valka is determined to help the effort. She knows her skills as a pilot rival the best of the men, so when an all-female aviation group forms, Valka is the first to sign up.

Flying has always meant freedom and exhilaration for Valka, but dropping bombs on German soldiers from a fragile canvas biplane is no joyride. The war is taking its toll on everyone, including the boy Valka grew up with, who is fighting for his life on the front lines.

As the war intensifies and those around her fall, Valka must decide how much she is willing to risk to defend the skies she once called home.

Inspired by the true story of the airwomen the Nazis called Night Witches, Gwen C. Katz weaves a tale of strength and sacrifice, learning to fight for yourself, and the perils of a world at war.

The cover is really simple but nice and the synopsis, though not my usual story, sounds like a great read

I love that this is based on a true story of real life heroic women. The world needs more of this right now! The hand drawn cover is very cool and kind of retro. Love it!
