Today we're super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for ALL THE WALLS OF BELFAST by Sarah J. Carlson, releasing March 12, 2019, from Turner Publishing. Before we get to the reveal, here's a note from Sarah:
Hey YABC! What’s up? Don’t say the ceiling ;-P Ha, cheesy joke. Sorry all, when I’m not trying to write all the words, I work at an elementary school and love every second of it. But seriously, I’m here to share something I’m BEYOND excited about. It’s the cover reveal for my DEBUT NOVEL—wait, did I just say that? Yes, yes I did. Hard to believe after so many years of hard work that it’s really, actually happening.
Okay, right, the title is ALL THE WALLS OF BELFAST, and the cover perfectly captures both the setting and feeling of foreboding that pervades the book as Danny and Fiona struggle to understand their pasts and define their own futures. Check out more about the book below. And enjoy the video introducing ALL THE WALLS OF BELFAST, which I'm also unveiling for the first time today on my YouTube channel and website! The extended version is also up on YouTube if you’re left hungry for more.

ALL THE WALLS OF BELFAST
By: Sarah J. Carlson
Release Date: March 12, 2019
Publisher: Turner Publishing
The Carnival at Bray meets West Side Story in Sarah Carlson’s powerful YA debut; set in post-conflict Belfast (Northern Ireland), alternating between two teenagers, both trying to understand their past and preserve their future. Seventeen-year-olds, Fiona and Danny must choose between their dreams and the people they aspire to be.
Fiona and Danny were born in the same hospital. Fiona’s mom fled with her to the United States when she was two, but, fourteen years after the Troubles ended, a forty-foot-tall peace wall still separates her dad’s Catholic neighborhood from Danny’s Protestant neighborhood.
After chance brings Fiona and Danny together, their love of the band Fading Stars, big dreams, and desire to run away from their families unites them. Danny and Fiona must help one another overcome the burden of their parents’ pasts. But one ugly truth might shatter what they have…
Sarah J. Carlson writes contemporary YA that delves into complex, real world problems. Professionally, she is a school psychologist who works primarily with a diverse, mostly low income population. Her professional focus is around supporting the success of children with behavioral and mental health needs and helping to promote resilience in children who have been exposed to trauma or toxic stress. What do you think about the cover and synopsis?
Love that cover. It's like a photo under the perfect filter, and the water drop....just beautiful. It's interesting to see a book based around Ireland, I don't think I've read a teen book set there before.
I love the colors and design of the cover, and I am deeply interested in the context of the troubles in Northern Island. I know I would love learning about the complexity of that context while connecting with these characters!
I really love the idea of this novel! I love learning about Northern Ireland and what has happen there. And the cover is pretty!
I love the cover and I have to read this. I know a lot about the Troubles and how difficult it was for the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. This book sounds really fascinating.
