Hi, YABCers!
Today we’re super excited to celebrate the cover reveal for NOTEWORTHY by Riley Redgate, releasing May 2, 2017 from Abrams/Amulet. Before we get to the cover, here’s a note from Riley:
Hello, YABC! I’m Riley. I’m so psyched to be here to reveal the final cover for my sophomore novel, NOTEWORTHY, which is about 50% singing puns and 50% deconstruction of gender roles, a strange blend which the cover somehow nails. NOTEWORTHY is an a cappella book, and a girl-disguises-herself-as-a-boy book. In college, I spent all of my time doing one of these things. I’ll let you guess which. Cheers!

NOTEWORTHY
Jordan Sun is embarking on her junior year at the Kensington-Blaine Boarding School for the Performing Arts, hopeful that this will be her year: the year she finally gets cast in the school musical. But when her low Alto 2 voice gets her shut out for the third year straight—threatening her future at Kensington-Blaine, and jeopardizing her college applications—she’s forced to consider nontraditional options.
In Jordan’s case, really nontraditional. A spot has opened up in the Sharpshooters, Kensington’s elite a cappella octet. Worshiped … revered … all male. Desperate to prove herself, Jordan auditions in her most convincing drag, and it turns out that Jordan Sun, Tenor 1, is exactly what the Sharps are looking for.
Jordan finds herself enmeshed in a precarious juggling act: making friends, alienating friends, crushing on a guy, crushing on a girl, and navigating decades-old rivalries. With her secret growing heavier every day, Jordan pushes beyond gender norms to confront what it means to be a girl (and a guy) in a male-dominated society, and most importantly, what it means to be herself.
About the Author
Riley Redgate loves thunderstorms, horrible puns, and the Atonement soundtrack. She often feels, when writing author bios, as if she is crafting some weirdly formal Tinder profile. Her seven-deadly-sins-inspired debut novel, SEVEN WAYS WE LIE, is out now from Abrams, and her next, NOTEWORTHY, will be out May 2017. Her affection for sharks has been described as “disproportionate” and “beyond reason.”

The cover and the synopsis both really intrigue me and the cover caught my eyes, as I believe that the number one way to attract readers is to have a great looking cover or at least something that will catch one’s eye.
I love the covers of both Noteworthy and Seven Ways We Lie. Seven Ways We Lie might be a little more eye-catching though.
I love stories about ambitious, goal-oriented teens very much — not enough books like this I know of! Cheers, Kara S
I like the cover and the synopsis promises an emotional read for me.
The synopsis sounds like quite the emotional read, and the cover is nifty!
