About the Book
How do you move on from an irreplaceable loss? In a poignant debut, a sixteen-year-old boy must learn to swim against an undercurrent of grief—or be swept away by it.
Otis and Meg were inseparable until her family abruptly moved away after the terrible accident that left Otis’s little brother dead and both of their families changed forever. Since then, it’s been three years of radio silence, during which time Otis has become the unlikely protégé of eighteen-year-old Dara—part drill sergeant, part friend—who’s hell-bent on transforming Otis into the Olympic swimmer she can no longer be. But when Otis learns that Meg is coming back to town, he must face some difficult truths about the girl he’s never forgotten and the brother he’s never stopped grieving. As it becomes achingly clear that he and Meg are not the same people they were, Otis must decide what to hold on to and what to leave behind. Quietly affecting, this compulsively readable debut novel captures all the confusion, heartbreak, and fragile hope of three teens struggling to accept profound absences in their lives.

The cover is beautiful. I like the watercolor raindrops. Also the premise sounds interesting as I find it unique how different people deal with grief, it will be interesting from a young adults perspective.
This sounds like such a deep read! I don’t think the cover really matches the synopsis.
I love this cover – the way that the raindrops are written into the synopsis in more than one way is such a clever idea – revealing the theme of swimming, but also that this will be a book that people won’t forget for a long time after they read it. I look forward to reading it myself!!:)
This strikes me as a memorable, truly rewarding read. Thanks, Kara S
Oh wow. This book sounds magnificent and I just KNOW it will be making me sob like no other.
love the cover! Simple yet eye-catching! And it sounds like a beautiful story. Would be happy to read it.
the watercolor raindrops are beautiful and also sad. I think based on the synopsis this is going to be an emotional book to read.
I love them! I am a swimmer and so this book seems like something that I can really connect with.
The cover is just beautiful and if the synopsis already makes my heart break, I can only imagine what’ll happen when I read this story.
Thanks so much for the chance!
I’m in love with the synopsis. It sounds so intriguing. And the cover is definitely original and eye-catching.
Love the cover!!!
I like the lettering and the color of the raindrops on the cover. The synopsis hints at a very emotional story. I think that I will like the characters and their story.
The waterdrops are both adorable and heartbreaking, and seem like they may be an indication as to how the book will go. Either way, I can’t wait to read it!
The cover reminds me of watercolour paint and I truly enjoy it’s beauty and simplicity. This definitely isn’t like any book I’ve read recently and it sounds like it would be a pleasurable read…(although, likely a sad one). I do love a book that can give you a good cry and this sounds like it just might. I look forward to reading it!
