Introducing Erin Summerill, YABC's Author of the Week!!

With a B.A. in English, Erin Summerill aspired to be a writer, but first she grabbed a Nikon and became a professional wedding photographer. When she isn’t writing, she’s chasing her four kids, two dogs, one cat, and five chickens. Erin and her family live in Utah.

Meet Ever The Brave!

After saving King Aodren with her newfound Channeler powers, Britta only wants to live a peaceful life in her childhood home. Unfortunately, saving the King has created a tether between them she cannot sever, no matter how much she'd like to, and now he's insisting on making her a noble lady. And there are those who want to use Britta’s power for evil designs. If Britta cannot find a way to harness her new magical ability, her life—as well as her country—may be lost.
The stakes are higher than ever in the sequel to Ever the Hunted, as Britta struggles to protect her kingdom and her heart.

YABC:  Who is your favorite character in the book?

Ever the Brave is told in three perspectives, Cohen, Britta, and Aodren. Since we've seen a lot of Britta and Cohen in Ever the Hunted, I'm excited that we get to explore Aodren's personality in the sequel, Ever the Brave. Aodren wants to do the best thing for his kingdom that has been through a lot of turmoil. I hope readers fall for him like I have!

YABC:  Which came first, the title or the novel?

I was working on the novel when the my editor asked my suggestions for the title. I returned a dozen ideas, but we kept returning to Ever The Brave. I think it's the perfect fit for this book.

YABC: What do you like most about the cover of the book?

EVERYTHING!!! But really, I love this cover so much. I didn't think I would like a cover more than the first, but I love red and gold and the beautiful font!

YABC:  What was your favorite book in 2017?

I loved so many, but I was really drawn to Blood Rose Rebellion, Daughter of a Pirate King, The Wish Granter, Before She Ignites, and Caraval!

YABC:  Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?

Ah, this is so hard to answer. When I'm drafting, I would say I like revising more. But when I'm thick in revisions and I can't remember what I wrote where, I would go for drafting!

YABC:  What would you say is your superpower?
Consuming a disgusting amount of candy and NOT ever getting sick! I love sugar a little too much. One of these days it's going to catch up to me.

YABC:  Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?

Yes! This year with the many natural disasters that rocked cities throughout the world, I became more aware that I have the ability to help. I have taken for granted the ease at which I can turn the faucet and fill a cup with drinkable water. I may not be able to do a lot, but I can help get clean drinking water to those in need. My friend's non-profit company creates water purifies at a minimal cost and sends them to locations where they are desperately needed. Check out www.bewaterforlife.com

YABC:  What’s up next for you?

I'm thrilled about ONCE A KING! It comes out next year and it's a book set in the same world as Ever the Hunted and Ever the Brave. But the story is told from the characters, Lirra and Aodren! I can't wait for us to find out even more about the King of Malam!
