more about Kristinia, and her book, plus a

YABC: What surprised you most while writing your latest book?
Kristina McBride: How easily this book came to me, all the twists and turns and mirrored moments just falling into place. That’s not to say I didn’t have a ton of revision to get it all just right, but the drafting (and redrafting) came without much of a struggle.
YABC: If you could live in any fantasy world, which one would it be?
KB: The mystical world of Fantasia from The NeverEnding Story, the land where all things fiction actually exist. First off, I’d travel there through the magic portal of a book. What could be better than that? And then there’s Falkor, the flying Luck Dragon. Finally, I could actually meet all the characters I’ve fallen in love with throughout my life, including the characters of my own creation. (Little Secret: I enjoy daydreaming that a parallel universe like this actually exists, where all things make-believe really are real.)
YABC: Do you have a mantra that gets you through the drafting phase?
KB: “Trust yourself” is a big one, because I often second guess the choices I make while drafting, when all scenes are in that up-in-the-air-could-go-anywhere phase. This mantra came from my editor, Alison Weiss, who told me to trust myself when I was revising a pivotal scene in ONE MOMENT (which will be reissued with Sky Pony Press in January of 2017!). I added a phrase to a sticky note and posted it on my desktop to remind myself daily.
YABC: What is your favorite hobby when you’re not writing?
KB: Anything outdoorsy—walking, hiking, biking. I also love to read. And bookstalk random strangers. If I see someone reading I have to know what they’re into. Like, I’ll contort myself as I walk by just to see the cover. And if I can’t get a good look, I’ll usually ask. (Not that that’s a hobby, just a random fact.)
YABC: Which character gave you the most trouble when writing your latest book?
KB: I’d have to say Hadley’s boyfriend, Ben. He was tricky to balance because he’s not all bad—there are reasons behind his actions. It was like walking an emotional tightrope with him as I wrote, every action and line of dialogue had to fit each stage of the book.
YABC: Do you enjoy writing to music? If so, do you have a goto playlist?
KB: I prefer silence when I write. Which can be tricky, seeing as how I live with my husband and two kids. White noise works well to drown out any distractions—I have an app on my phone that plays rain, waves, etc. (I know, so glam.)
YABC: Is there an organization or cause that is close to your heart?
KB: Oh my goodness, so many. In regard to this book, specifically, the Steubenville rape case was front and center in the media while I was writing. This case involved a whole slew of teens, cyber bullying, as well as drugs and alcohol. This real life situation inspired me to craft the story of a girl who has been betrayed and decides to fight back. She doesn’t always do the right thing or even the smart thing, but she is committed to taking down the perpetrators of the abuse.
YABC: What’s a book that you’ve read recently that you would recommend to your readers?
KB: Right now I’m reading THIS IS WHERE IT ENDS by Marieke Nijkamp and holy wow, it’s intense and compelling and everything I love in a book.
YABC: Which part of the writing process do you enjoy more: Drafting or Revising?
KB: I usually love whatever stage I’m currently in. Until I hate it. And then I love the opposite. Bottom line? I have an equally balanced love/hate relationship with both drafting and revising. I hate the tear-my-hair-out feeling when I can’t figure something out, but love the excitement I feel when something tricky falls into place.
YABC: What would you say is your superpower?
KB: Persistence. I don’t stop. Ever. I will always keep going. To all the writers out there, this is one of the keystones to getting published.
Meet A Million Times Goodnight!
One night. Two paths. Infinite danger.
-
On the night of the big spring break party, seventeenyearold Hadley “borrows” her boyfriend Ben’s car without telling him. As payback, he posts a naked picture of her online for the entire senior class to see.
Now Hadley has a choice. She can go back to the party and force Ben to delete the picture. Or she can raise the stakes and take his beloved car on a road trip as far away from their hometown of Oak Grove, Ohio, as she can get.
Each storyline plays out in alternating chapters. In one strand, Hadley embarks on a reckless adventure with her best friends, spinning the perfect plan for revenge. In the other, stuck in a car with her exboyfriend, Josh, she’s forced to revisit the mistakes they each made, including whether they should ever have broken up at all. As events of a wild night race toward an explosive conclusion, old feelings are rekindled, friendships are tested, and secrets uncovered that are so much worse than a scandalous photo.
A Million Times Goodnight is a fastpaced romantic contemporary thriller ripped right from the headlines.

Unfortunately this is a situation that many teens deal with (the photo thing, anyway). It sounds like this book has all the intensity of a high school romance.
This intersection of several popular genres sounds original. I am drawn by the fast-paced thriller tempo of the plot and the excitement of multiple POVs and possible outcomes. Thanks for bringing this new book to my attention (& the giveaway is appreciated very much!). Cheers, Kara S
A million times goodnight sounds great ♡ thank you
This cover is..GORGEOUS!
The premise of the book itself has me extremely interested. Especially since this book hits so close to reality…I mean, really, let’s be honest, this sort of thing happens so commonly anymore! Ugh!
It sounds like a fantastic read! I’m anxious to see how far revenge takes these characters!
And… wait… who is this old flame, Josh, and how does he factor in????
The cover is beautiful and very artistic. I already hate her boyfriend for posting this picture just because she took the car. Based on that strong emotion, I think this could be a really good book.
This book sounds AMAZING. 2 different possibilities going on at the same time. Fantastic.
The synopsis enthralled me. I’m usually not much into romance, but the two parallel sides sound so interesting!! I can’t wait to see what happens in either of the two situations, as both sound very intriguing. I’m a sucker for books that have different endings/ sides to them!!!
I have strong feelings for the characters already and this cover is beautiful!
